"The vintage Rioja is kicking in" takes me back 50 years to when I persuaded my late father-in-law to order cases of wine from Laymont & Shaw in Truro. Vina Ardanza Reserva La Rioja Alta was his favourite. It was relatively expensive but not the £32 it costs today! Parker 94/100. As for ZIOC - I despair! Assuming whatever future it has is bright any fool would expect the SP to be a lot higher than it is. Despite being assured that dark forces will not take ZIOC private the current SP would fit that scenario. Meanwhile, Laymont & Shaw appears to have metamorphosed into Old Chapel Cellars. For my part, I've just opened a bottle of Dandelion Vineyards Honeypot Of The Barossa Roussanne 2024 @ £14.50 which doesn't taste as good as it did in the restaurant @ £38! Obviously, the occasion makes a difference - good food, good company, good service etc.
