So the towers are entry level designed to meet particular demand upto a certain power requirement.
The next level, and this is all my take on what I understand, will be the 20ft container that addresses a different demand that may include EV & construction as the tower, and then also data centres and more. The container will likely hold all the elements required to offer the 3 fuel options. AFC have not finalised the elements necessary for the methanol, ammonia options.
The towers and the 20ft will meet demand that represents a significant market size.
I would be interested to discuss some things with anyone who is serious. It is very easy to ignore the obvious irrelevants, and stick with LTH’s knowledge.
There were 2 towers at Brooklands, they might have been the same 2 photographed in the assembly unit that showed 3. We have seen another pic of a tower, not sure what circumstance that was.
There are 3 fuel options for the tower. As I understand it, a tower using 3x9 H2 would run directly on the fuel the same way a diesel gen would run on site. Using methanol or ammonia would require a further element between the stored fuel and tower. It is not entirely clear to me whether the cracker or reformer will be a separate tower or all self contained.?
These towers are the introduction to market of new tech designed to replace diesel gen’s and most importantly they are easy to use. I would suggest they are relatively straightforward to manufacture and assemble. That being the case, the towers could represent the start of FuelCell familiarity as easy to use clean energy systems.
For whatever many had hoped would be a simple market entry of H2 FuelCells, that they are easy to use must have been a tough design problem. AFC have achieved that.
So the towers look set to announce AFC to the market. And it seems to me that 3x9 H2 will be the first fuel, with the 2 others following on as cheaper fuels.
Nice to see a few familiar faces yesterday, sorry I didn’t stay and chat as I was feeling a bit unwell.
Sonofa, that may be the disadvantage of not attending.? “all a bit up in the air.” maybe, or, AFC assessing the market requirements compared to relative feasibility to achieve .v. competition. To present the POWER TOWERS at this point, relative to red diesel, is impressive. It is scalable and cheap to run fuel wise. Hydrogen is not getting any cheaper, and the option of 3x9 purity may well be crucial, along with the methanol and ammonia.
The POWER TOWERS could prove to be very relevant.
Kevlove, it would be irrelevant to say either way.!, short or long term.?, addressing the right markets.?, an appropriate business model.?, competitively priced.?, a worthy USP.?
I know it would be easy to say yes, and similarly no and criticise. Macro and micro dependent, and so many variables.
It appears that the whole team is united toward the same goals, and that unity of purpose is based on serious ‘long-term’ market feedback. Will it all come together.? …yes or no.
Aimm, calm down.!
It is a technicality. A minor detail that requires some kind of re-wording to pass for approval (?), as I understood Mr Bullard’s explanation.
My last question to Mr Bond was: “with AlkaMem having achieved ‘record-breaking’ results in tests, some time ago, what is the status.?” …a surprising/not surprising reply that testing continues with good results, the plan though is not clear or decided as to whether AlkaMem goes to market as a separate entity.
Scarpa, yes plenty of good Q’s.
I referred to Bk gulf to which the answer was that less piping is needed in the smaller ‘S’ than was planned in ‘L’ so things change.! Also referred to Ricardo, and as expected (as I have comprehended prior) they are investigating possibilities that are not necessarily relevant to current FOCUS. I had queries about the training and employ of maintenance of widespread systems, and that seems in-hand as a part of a plan.
A very good presentation. Four guys presented, Mr Bond presented the overall, and then three distinct special segments covering the premises & staff; the product technicals; and then the fuel variety technicals. And not one of the 4 guys made a mistake, and all came across as Very positive, very enthused, and all sharing the same vision for the future of the company.
Not really anything unexpected.
Distinct FOCUS.
Sorry hicon, I am illiterate when it comes to posting a link.
There are 3 engineers attending to the towers, the CTO has just arrived and adjusted the settings on the tower which is showing as full. Inside the tower are 4 boxes/cartridges, all very sleek, just a single wire to each box. The tower stands 7-8ft, each box 18”. They stand sturdy although could be pushed over with some effort.
Just arrived at Brooklands, …guess I might be the first shareholder to see the 2 POWER TOWERS on display.!
Good list of Q’s bondy, very similar to my list.! I am going and will need to decide on max 2 Q’s. I am probably most interested in Ricardo & DeNora.
Who’s there.?
Nice find Boonco, for AFC to be successful in powering ships there will need to be ‘this type’ of reliable ammonia fuel supply in place. Horse before the cart.
only the tax subsidy on red diesel removed.
Today presents the opportunity for a PR bonanza for AFC. On all media platforms to report the tax change on red diesel and then to showcase the first feasible alternative to diesel generators.
Rekon that could be on the cards. Both systems will have suitable applications. And similarly with Altaqqua, they will want to offer a range of systems to meet various needs.
Fair enough Ogs, I understand and appreciate the resentment carried forward from that building-up of expectation. And not excusing the direct nature of the language used, maybe it is just part of introducing a disruptive new tech that the hype must inhabit.
The consequential ‘potential’ order numbers now in negotiation with ABB, Acciona, Mace, Keltbray, Altaqqua, and the maritime sector is a satisfactory position, for me.
As the reality was/is that on presenting the product to market on the EV roadshow in 2020, AFC have adapted to the market response by putting the S-series front and foremost.
I have no issue with Mr Bond stating there had been plenty of interest, and of which some are substantive. The main point of receiving and working on enquiries is that they convert to some sort of deal. That Keltbray has progressed to an agreed system test is sufficient percentage success ratio of enquiries. Difficult to conceive that any other interested parties could offer such potential quantity as Keltbray, highlighting that AFC are directing attention to the growing the business in an effectively efficient manner. Similarly, the ‘approved in principle’ achievement with the maritime sector.
I’m not sure as I will ‘bother’ going to the AGM, as I really can not see what else the company can tell us beyond minor details.
The reliability of fuel supply cannot be understated. It seems that there may well be options of various H2, ammonia, methanol, maybe syngas. And the location and logistics may be a determining factor. Each/all of these potential fuels are also in the process of developing to grow to meet demand. With such a variety of options with various production processes, keeping up-to-date to be able to source the best deals will be a business in its self.
It just seems so compatible, and on such quantity scales is likely to be quite lucrative.
Fair enough dwolfch, all the better should they become customers. (End of discussion.)
