“at least 10 to ABB”
that should be 20. The RNS today states “10x200kW”. (20x100kW)
I totally disagree with mikodx.
The reason being that AFC are now in a position to REPLACE DEISEL GENERATORS at every level. That can only represent a HUGE market, …money well spent.
Easy Goaty.?, …200GW .! let’s be happy with a 200kW system.
and 20 is a decent size first order.!
thanks hmch, that was a VERY good read.!
mouchers,
of course it would have been nice, some many moons ago, that AFC could have just put the/a FuelCell together and stuck it on the end of the exhaust at the AkzoNobel chemicals site that was releasing ‘free’ H2. Things have proved slightly more complex.!
The USP has been established, and important relationships with the most appropriate ‘clients’ nurtured, …by a struggling small new tech Co that almost immediately saw the ‘lowest hanging fruit’ turn sour as H2 first entered the new green energy sector.
The big guns of the energy business will be concerned and maybe actively hampering AFC.! This still has POTENTIAL.! And yet now, as opposed to our ‘romantic’ illusions of years ago, AFC are professionally offering a viable, relevant, complete product for off-grid, clean, on-demand energy, …in responce to global demand.
rekon this will grab the attention of Kier, Mace, etc, and the construction industry. They may well have had some issue around transport/storage of H2 on-site.? That ammonia can deliver 3+ times the fuel capacity.v.H2 must be attractive to running costs.?
AFC contracted to supply fuel for the PowerTowers currently in use, and will likely be discussing relative costs of supply, including the new cracker, with Kier, etc. As inv’pro just said “the whole package” is backing this first target market of deisel gen’s replacement.
Encouraging.!
The mention that the “larger” modular system is not ready for launch seems appropriate. That AFC now have the cracker for launch, albeit the ‘smaller’ version, is likely in-step with the current target markets and complimentary to the PowerTower.
tetro, ExE has, in my opinion, served its’ purpose for AFC. The technology was proved to the most extreme conditions, for both operation and transport.
For me, what is of most importance at this point, is the number of technicians available to attend products out with prospective clients. ExE are not in the same position as Kier, Mace, etc, that represent potentially big business for AFC. And so their needs are the priority. ExE was successfully launched, and can continue without AFC. Limited resources must be managed to best advantage.
Looks like dw & daz are early adopters of chatGPT.!
“pipeline of deployments contracted.”
This could quite accurately describe that a certain number of pre-requisites need to be met before the contract becomes fully actionable to deployment. That there is a ‘pipeline’ could describe that there is some distance, be it very close or otherwise, between anticipated and actual deployments.
There is little point in calling purple purple when it has clearly been described as purpleish.
Until such contracts are RNS to the market, then there will be a shroud of mist blurring the recognition between hype and reality.
It is very easy to view those statements as completely positive, which they are, although there might be some ‘rose-tint’ involved. With a slightly more cynical/experienced view, the word pipeline tends to actually be more akin to a hosepipe when said by Mr Bond.! As to ‘contracted’, it is hard to reconcile that contracts have been signed without having been RNS to inform the market of important information.
More likely than not that Kier are sufficiently impressed by the first use. That is about all I am willing to take from the statements, plus that further deployments are likely to be in discussion with costs, of both product and fuel, high on the agenda.
Thanks all for an encouraging read. Maybe becoming clearer/more feasible to comprehend just what AFC is most likely setting out to offer as practically possible.
2 variety of H-Power-Tower: 20/100.
A containerized 200kW unit.
I like the simplicity of that with regard to manufacture & maintenance. All along it has been part of the process to design with ‘cheaper’ component parts than PEM, and assuming that many/most parts will repeat for all 3 model types, then cost effective assembly can be achieved to all models.
I agree that streamlining the number of trials to a limited chosen few big companies has to be the best way. As a possibility, Mace, Kier, and Keltbray create a joint venture to establish a hire/lease company for the industry to supply HPT’s.
It is usually in the first weeks of April, the date and location have not been announced yet.
going the way of likely every other stock today, …ALL DOWN, all markets.!
Rekon that has run its’ course for AFC. It served its’ purpose well. AFC proved transportation and operation in extremes. Plenty of contacts were made, not least Altaaqa, and that kind of global publicity would have been beyond AFC’s means. As a detail, likely the technicians required to be always available will be far better utilised now with either ABB or Power-Towers.
Quantity clients are now the objective and all efforts must be focused on that.
As the tax discount on red diesel was removed last year, putting that discount onto hydrogen fuel would make it very competitive, increase demand and therefore production/supply, bringing the cost of hydrogen steadily down, creating the environment where diesel is no longer viewed as first choice fuel.
Thank you Boffin, very helpful.
So maybe not impossible that ammonia, at quantity, could be stored at a major construction site, ‘cracked’ to be used as either engine fuel or electric supply.?
