You’re right Petr _
I need to be patient and if anything treat any slippages in SP as buying opportunity though I’m nervous as have relatively large holding v risk profile and would be more comfortable adding to energy sector investment
You’re right bigpunt I’m sticking for just that eventuality
Please excuse the wobble :-)
Hi Boyobach
Looks like we’re reverting to old relationship between two as SP holding up despite massive fall in Brent future
Maybe it’s anticipating a rise on China reopening?
Oh dear looks like SP drifting off on lack of news
Maybe 203 was the exit point this time round with a buyback in 170s
SP gonna fall tomorrow
Yanks have gone totally risk off
Odd behaviour this afternoon SP down 50 when I last looked then down 11 while OP falling
Boyobach might be able to explain but perhaps it’s hope value that OP must eventually tick up as it’s unusual for SP to move in opposite directions.
A week ago it’d have been significantly more
$ has had a sustained bout of weakness
Never mind there’s always next quarter!
Unfortunately the £ has gained significantly v $ do we’re in for quite a lower dividend than I thought which might have moderated the price in relation to oil slightly
Me too topher73 I’d even set a goal of 2450 but felt it was close enough and then got distracted but I can’t complain and like you might go in if price drops below £23 though I’m more of a long term investor these days hoping Shell will gradually raise dividend as opposed to ambitious buy backs
Based on 15% uplift on dividend at current exchange rate with weaker $ and 2350 SP assumption
Hi Jim800
You’re right of course added to which $ has weakened significantly so current dividend will be quite a lot down v where it might’ve been struck
Oil price in sterling terms also not so robust?
Mainly though you’re right of course it’s most likely profit taking as 2450 level would be a good selling point
Hi
Might be reason for fall?
Affects dividend yield and value of oil maybe
GLA
Odd
Share price falls when there’s good news
I guess it’s had a good run
GLA
Thanks Boyobach
That answers my previous query as I’d lost sense of previous SP/OP relationship.
Hi Boyobach
Shell doing much better v OP these days
Suppose dividend hike and debt reduction hit the reset button?
Interesting oil is crashing but SP not so much
Belief is China has to abandon zero Covid policy eventually?
Tantalus is a transition metal Atomic number 73 but also a mythological villain
Did I miss something or is he serious in preaching climate change denial when it’s so obvious the concentration of the green house gases CO2 and methane in the atmosphere has risen steadily since the human race industrialised
As you say not one for an investment platform and even FB might tag it on basis of fact checking
My motive for buying Shell is it is in a better position than government and potentially more willing to transition to net zero though the Tory arbitrary policy of tax and waste potentially jeopardises their investment plans
No need to reply as my reasons are my reasons and time will tell but I’ll be long gone by 2050 as will my shareholding so GLA especially the younger investors who will inherit our legacy
Some decent buys just gone through
Might explain recent penetration of 200 level currently 205
Be nice if it held and moved higher as my losses halved dive recovery started
New high this morning at 205 no matter how short lived
Little volume though
Keep going and look for CMD
What does anyone think about this share in terms of price objective in the next 12m?
The dividend raise will help but I noticed BP has risen more quickly the past couple of days
