I feel same way
There is surely a business opportunity to be had in near prime lending space particularly with the escalation in energy costs and rents etc especially in London regarding the latter but somehow this “experienced” management team are doing their best to feck it up !?
Yes I’ve a feeling you’re right
Getting close to my SL but might just shade it for 5p divi as in effect the first position I bought at twice the price I’m selling it which is pretty cr@p going as will check but not that long ago
Hi Theborn
My stop loss is only for a portion of my position
If I were a conspiracy theorist I’d say it suits management that the shares are worthless so they can reward themselves with more and buybacks have more impact
I’m going to look at interims in depth at weekend as have a finance background but agree with your analysis that it’s the central costs that are a blight and potential brake on the potential earnings - nevertheless I can’t believe how deeply discounted these shares have become - they’re almost priced to anticipate a distressed sale leaving share holders in the cart
Boyobach
Good to see OP breach $100 though not of course if you’re struggling financially to fill up your car
SP certainly robust at well over £23 but I expect further advances will be constrained even if OP were to rise significantly as the ratio had been sub 20/1 not long ago and I think it all comes back to distribution policy - buybacks don’t cheer up shareholders looking for income and Shell have been reluctant perhaps for political reasons from lifting the dividend by more than a modest amount albeit a strong $ will squeeze a little more out of the current level
Wasn’t expecting that today albeit OP up 2.5%
It’s tracking OP now going up again
Interesting
My thought too Boyobach - the share price probably sits in a quantitative range driven by yield and other factors whereas the commodity price gives some level of comfort on earnings especially if the rise is sudden and creates a windfall revaluation of inventory?
Now sitting at 23 which is well over recent MA
Wonder if there’s anticipation of a dividend hike or general awareness that SP has been held back by perceptions about management and awareness that debt is down and share buyback is beginning to compensate for reduced dividend.
Either way it’d be interesting if Brent climbs over $100 / barrel
Leverage improves ROCE once safe level of gearing achieved balance of maintainable cash flow should either be ear marked for investment or shareholder returns
Seav I love your fair value if only a 50% hike in SP were on cards as I’d like a 5 figure gain from here - shareholding modest by standards of this BB but will reinvest dividends and hope they go up
Agree bigpunt
Maybe people are starting to sense a bargain
Some buy side trades this morning - an odd number made up to an even 100,000!and two other similar odd numbered trades - let’s hope it’s the start of a gentle uplifting
Damn - put commentators curse on PFG as 830,000 and another large sale gone through though share closed slightly better up 2.60
I doubt there’s going to be much action on this share until we get a trading update that confirms profits and forecasts in line with first half trading so I’m going dark until someone comes up with a post! GLA hers to 200+ now it’s ex div
There were 3 ordinary trades of 50,000 shares bought earlier today which is positive.
Fingers crossed the share price has stabilised at current level but I’ve set a stop loss at 175 just in case
Good show Bimmer668
Hi Boyobach
I’d noticed the divergence too and wondered if government reluctance over further WFT had strengthened case for Shell which has underperformed BP? Strong $ will increase value of future dividend increases but even a $6b buyback is a small impact on equity?
Reduced debt must improve strength of business case?
More scope for investment?
Thanks JolietJake
Interesting insight
Losing touch with your customers is the biggest failing of senior management in any business and second is not rewarding front line staff for doing their job well
Appreciate the sentiments and time will tell
I’m holding for full year results and crossing fingers
Drop today not unexpected
GLA LTH
I’m considering adding at this level but DYOR
Just wanted to do a post where I could get maximum number of TLA in but seriously I hope all who have held faith with this company including me are rewarded for their loyalty and patience
Large buys and sells of 115,000 today
Maybe the board wants to depress the SP, perhaps a conspiracy theory at best but if you consider the lower the price the more shares cancelled the better it works out!
Whatever time will tell!
Nice holding Casio5
