Palladium leading the pack today, but crazy precious metal prices all round: Did you see gold tear through $4000/oz as tho it was no big deal? Now silver is bound to go through $50/oz like a knife through butter.

Eventually we will hear about new, hopefully wonderful silver finds at Elizabeth Hill: as long as the precious metals continue their happy journey upwards, UFO will do well.

It's looking like gold will push through $4000/oz this week – a massive achievement – and maybe silver will blast through $50/oz. Can't be bad if you're invested in mining.

I agree, a brutal price drop. I guess tiny companies like this one and West Coast can't afford several weeks between drill results, people get nervous. I'm leaning on the $6 million raised by West Coast in July: as long as they've got cash, they'll keep drilling in a silver bull run, and the results will arrive.

Let's hope it moves smoothly towards the big five O and then straight on through to new highs.

Perhaps silver won't have any trouble bashing through the $50/oz price: up 2.25% today.

Can anyone explain (simply please) if the silver price is in fact held down by banks and financial cos? And if so, how will it rise past their control this time? What has changed?

It will be a massive deal when silver breaks $50/oz: I guess it will have to bash against $49 for a while first. After that, well . . .

I'm going to call the bottom, with fingers crossed: 0.14p. Wherever it goes today, hopefully tomorrow we will get back to following West Coast up.

What a Monday morning . . . back to the price mid-August. If it stays above 0.10p, we will still be on an upward path. I sure hope silver is planning a long, long rise.

Scary times. The fact that silver is nearly 2 % up is comforting. Also West Coast Silver finished 5% up. C'mon UFO.

I agree DRB83, the only cause for worry at this point is a sinking silver price. That looks unlikely.

Thanks for the link, Allwinners. The phrase they use about wider exploration around Elizabeth Hill and in the region: "We think the big re-rate for WCE could come from a repeat Elizabeth Hill being discovered." Exciting idea.

Miserable price drop. I just checked when West Coast last pulled in some funding: 23rd July, AU$6m. Enough to keep drill results coming in for a while.

Share price at 0.25p, a nice square price: it's easier to picture 0.5p now.
