Jarvis has been very firm of date, only 45 staff, though a large number of shares held by the family, but theoretically it would make a great fit for M&G. It also did not fail (neither did II of course) in the panic of last week as both Bell & HL did.

Your points that we are sitting on the old NAV now, also the way hospitality must change with likely less pressing of the flesh & overnight stays in future are well made.
Problem is no one knows how things will evolve but really we have to rely on RF & his team to keep losses down & standards up, a tough call but it needs to be achieved as Mars will now be a hospitality house with a 40% stake in a good new brewing co. So these Motels/pubs must pay their way. Some will, for sure, but the Pitcher & Piano's, for instance, will need work done as they are (imo) below the level of competitors like All Bar One & being in city centres will be competing for a significantly lower footfall for a while as people wfh.
However there are plus sides as well, especially Mars locations which often suit long weekends, for instance, admirably, so we must rely on RF getting the balance of costs & services right & identify what to keep & improve & what to lose.
On balance I think he will do it as he comes across as knowledgeable & very pro active. If he does we could all do very well in the sunny uplands post covid.
WRT the Auaussie digger, I think he fancies himself more as a Calgary Cowboy, on the Tesla iron horse ?

I am in a similar situation, I was stupid enough to subscribe for VCT 6 almost 5 years ago, which became MAV4 this year and I am just a little bit in pocket after my tax rebate and the very parsimonious dvis on VCT6 over my 4 years holding it. I think your position is better than you say because if you held VCT2 for 20 years you had quite a lot of tax free dividends over that time. Did you also claim CGT relief when you purchased, as I seem to recall that in the days of 20% relief which is what you appeared to have you had CGT relief, then the tax relief was raised to 30% and you had CGT deferral ? These days of course the only relief is 30%, nothing for CGT.

As usual an incisive critique which I find hard to disagree with.
Debt is an issue , especially the valuations of the properties on which it is secured, hence the 2 alerts yesterday. It is possible they might find a different route, selling off headquarters for instance (which I believe were quite recently expensively refurbed ?), but I see nothing that can really stabilise them like a fund raising exercise. Martin's comments on @Spoons pubs yesterday in the press, although full of his usual bluster, does give a feel for what life is like on the front line & it seems pretty grim to me, particularly with rising unemployment and higher personal taxes being mooted.
Nevertheless for LT holders the situation looks better this week than last, by quite a stretch, thankfully.

Many thanks for posting both the rns' today, it is now nearly close of market and we still only have the one showing on this website.
The missing one is also that with most detail, as well. Given the hiccups on LSE it has not been terribly impressive this week, I must start getting mine from Trustnet as they seem better organised.

Most of us here never give advice as it is such a personal decision, but one rule I usually keep to is if I am becoming preoccupied or nervous about a stock I would normally halve a position, if not sell the lot. If you have a profit, no one ever went broke by taking a profit, but as I said, it is a very personal decision that you can only make for yourself.

Very much appreciated and LSE are still only showing 1 rns, yet the one they have omitted has a mass of detail on it. Funny enough I saw the alert from Mars but they also only sent the one & not the long one with all details in it
BTW the "Hyde" operation clearly had nothing to do with the park and the ground preparation FD mentions !

What a welcome divi annoncement today, 3.125p which after the 4for1 is 12.5p compared to 7.5p this time last year.My guess is that JIM are raking it in,especially with HL & Bell breaking down most of Monday.
45 staff I recall is ther payroll on the last accounts, so very low fixed costs, keep these dividends rolling in please !

I was typing a response this morning just as the forum went down.
I am sure you are right to be cautious but at least the last couple of days shows us what the upside can be, FD is spot on re the debt mountain, especially as the largest lump is at the highest rate and lasting for a long time without easily being renegotiated due to its being securitised, as per my email from RF when I first raised the issue with him. An RI must be tempting, and PeelHunt are here for fees, not Xmas decorations, but if they were going to start book building surely this week would have been the time, so just perhaps they could have another plan.
Well done all who kept their nerve, & perhaps averaged in the darkest days, things are looking more chirpy now eh ?
But caution is surely needed still, as you implied this morning.
