Don't you think that the rise in NIC & the minimum wage might have something to do with this current SP ?

Not to mention the £5 pint as well, granted they aren't charging that in many Marston's pubs yet but in the south it is a result if you can buy one for much less than a fiver, some pubs are over £6 a pint of bitter now.

Also the group of puffers & stuffers on this board, normally seen as soon as the price moves up slightly might, by their absence the past month or so, have gone on to practice their puffing & stuffing elsewhere...

Given the actual discount to NAV currently about 9% and also given that the whole portfolio is on +/- 40% this trust does look very cheap indeed.

Probably because neither Checkit's first approach nor Ideagen's only approach was any more than an expression of interest and an indication of what they might bid.

Both withdrew after their due diligence, the Checkit came back again much lower...

Expressions of interest are not bids are they ?

FWIW these seem to have tumbled too far and with their likely discount to net assets I dipped my toe in today.

I think private rental is moving/has moved away from BTL owners to a more professional operation, which they seem to be.

What a delight to see that the Checkit bid, derisory as it was, has been rejected.

So the board's best efforts to give this company away at our expense has imploded on them, hopefully they will now get on with their day job, which is what we pay them for, after all...

I agree with both of you, we are having our pockets picked by KKR, the PHP deal makes so much more sense to both companies, it says a lot about the Institutions that they fail to ignore the real value, not just in REITs but in so many stocks, leaving the likes of KKR to "burgle" our portfolios...

As a holder of quite a few of their EIS issues I have to agree with you, I never expected to see much in the first 5 years but my holdings go back much further than that.

I have the impression that they price their holdings if not quite to perfection but pretty close to it.

Trading update in the next 2 weeks apparently.

I've been gradually buying this over the last few months, largely because of the discount but also because I like their portfolio in general, which to me made it an attractive trust.

What has happened with Saba trying to force boards of trusts on big discounts to close the discount recently is, for me, another reason to buy.

Only 2 weeks ago abrdn Asian Income' board instigated a continuation vote every 3 years, this has closed the discount down a few % already.

I was hoping for a bit more tbh, but am happy to take 490p

I must confess your calls on this have been almost impeccable, I nearly jumped in yesterday but your post made me think again, so rather than buy back from previous sales I did it today and at about 20p cheaper.

I am very bemused as to why the "trusted person" review is taking so long but WRT trading T+20 I would respectfully suggest that if you are paying £9.50 a trade on a sharedeal active or £5 on X-O you should probably be using a fuller service broker, after all your comm is barely paying for a chase up phone call, let alone the staff to monitor it.

It makes me think of going to breakfast at the local greasy spoon & expecting Michelin star food, it's not going to happen for £5 a trade, imho...

I did post a while ago thar the "£4 & £5 next week" posts were somewhat tedious but apparently we have now gone fro £8 to £10 on 19 Nov to all out at £3.25, please don't get me wrong, I never laugh at people's losses & I certainly am not doing so here, but this does make for a quieter & more objective board going forward.

I totally agree, the discount has been as wide as 20% recently which is why I started buying, currently at 17.5% to a buyer and, IMHO, a real steal.

One will need patience for sure, but the management is good, did you see the recent video on them ?

Having exited after the divi went xd at about 38 it seemed rude not to buy them back this afternoon at just under 30 after costs. Nothing much has happened between then & now except that they do look cheap again.

Isn't it nice that now the excitement has settled down that this board is not getting double figures worth of baseless comments like "400 by tomorrow" or "500 by next week etc etc, it really was so boring.

Sanity has prevailed at last...
