Feeks, Sorry. Its not 20 lorries per Mw its 200. That would mean 4000 trailers to fill a 20Mw capacity. Regardless these are obviously estimates and retrofitting solar cells to refrigerated vehicles will not be the only way to fill a manufacturing facility order capacity.

I don’t think the market would suffer another round of funding for R&D trials. The funding received last time was for building the product. Any more R&D should come from profits of the saleable products.

Yeah, read the article. Can't disagree. Fantastic product just need to move from trail and testing to sales. The review is right. I was a share holder when the centrica deal was announced. Nothing materialised. We also had Link Energy which died a death. I believe MOU with Waitrose in there somewhere. Ineos, air products etc etc etc. Nothing commercial has come yet.

I disagree that focus will go away from electric vehicles and the charging infrastructure. Sales are down but have remained level for EV's. This should remain a focus and business like AFC should be celebrated for their achievements. Perhaps not receiving direct funding but subsidies should remain for EV's in some form whilst EV charging will remain essential to allow ease of travel from A to B without the stress of recharging. Years ago it was LPG tanks being fitted to cars. This took planning to ensure you could find a fill up point. It can't happen to EVs if there is going to be a sustained change.

well Feeks, hoping I timed my purchase just right this morning. Have been looking for the alternative to AFC Energy. Been invested there 10 years. I think this year is the year for them. They have a lot of catching up to do with their peers but I think they will do it. This for me here is my alternative green tech. Cleverly that is the name of the company Verdi (green) tec.

Hoping that this one comes good. This is a really strong and prominent sector and will be for some time.

I would guess at 5kw per lorry that 20 lorries would be 1Mw therefore you would need an order for 400 lorries to fill the the Italy 20Mw capacity. Not sure how many refrigerated trailers are manufactured each year but expect they can also be retrofitted. The online download I copied makes reference to a haulier with 100 vehicles. Let's say Waitrose for argument sake. How many refrigerated trailers would they have ? 100, 200? Then you have Tesco, Morriston etc etc etc. That's just the UK. Globally this could be a huge market.

Not forgetting any potential from retail building for solar roofing the list of applications is endless due to its weight saving, power density/efficiency and flexible nature meaning they can be fitted to places that could not previously utilise solar PV due to weight constraints are shape of structure or both.

Feeks, They demonstrate the payback period in another document for covering the HGV refrigerated trailer roofing. The cost of the PV's was covered by fuel saving from reduced idling time and solar production, estimated cost saving per annum is £4138 and recovery of the solar panel cost is within 1.74 years. This is no time at all.

This stacks up with the previous figures. Looking at the image in the attached brochure. 18 panels per refrigerated unit with 275wp per panel = 4950 watts per refrigerated roof.

£1.5 per watt x 4950 watts = £7425 for the system per truck

£7425 / annual cost saving of £4138 per ruck = 1.79 years to repay the cost of the system.

Very close estimate and very short payback period for a customer.

Perhaps AFC own the tooling. Then its not such a problem. Just give the tooling to another manufacturer.

I am not sure of ITM's factory and what it actually manufacturers in house. I favour the AFC approach in regards to having manufacturing partners that specialise in certain components. Also the ability to use of the shelf items keeping the cost down. I believe CWR have built there own facility at considerable cost. This is great to keep things in house but having a well managed supply chain and partnerships will be more cost effective in the long run and would inevitably be lower overhead cost. I would like to think that AFC have a facility purely for building the units from its component parts and have a lean just in time system from its manufacturing partners. Why pay for costly equipment when you can pay an expert to manufacture components for you, such as De Nora and the plastics company they have an agreement with mentioned last year in RNS. AFC have worked hard to develop not just the IP but the supply chain and its all stack up for me. Very good business model.

Garonne, I agree with what you are saying, always have. AFC seem to lag their true value based on IP alone. Forget the sales and turnover, the IP is for a proven product, it must be worth considerably more than the current MCap alone. It will catch up. As discussed yesterday there have been too many broken promises and false starts. The AFC management need to regain the trust of the market and start to deliver. Maybe CE marking will see a massive improvement in this issue and inflate the share price based on CE approval of the IP. This may already be the case but it is not well publicised if it is

I assume VDTK could exceed capacity in sales of the two factories. Not immediately but eventually. Assuming that, to increase capacity they could licence the production to an additional facility. I can only assume there is no end to the possibility and the use of the PV's I greater than rigid structure PV's but with the same output per m2 but at a 10th of the weight and above all else flexible. Previously, flexible PV's have not been known for their power output working at a reduction to the fixed types you see in massive solar farms. Massive benefits being flexible, reduced weight and same output.

This would be turnover not profit I would add.

However, fitration in the oil and gas industry according to accounts is a £55bn per annum industry. Focus may not be here but still a very big opportunity especially when CEO has connections in oil and gas sector.

A 100kw system using 275 Wp @ £1.5 per watt for a fully installed system.

1.5 x 1000 = £1500 per kW

£1500 per kW x 1000 = £1.5m per Mw

20 x £1.5m per Mw = £30m per annum in sales for the 20Mw production capacity

Add the 10Mw per shift x 3 shifts = 30Mw capacity from Portugal

Total is 50Mw per annum at £1.5m per Mw = £75m per annum for installed system ?????

Well, I liked what I was reading so have taken a small stake here this morning. May have been on a bit of a spike but I cant help but think they have a decent enough product to sell. They quote £1.5 per watt cost in one of their download documents. For 20Mw per annum this would equate to £30m in turnover just from the Italian factory. If the Portuguese factory is 10Mw per shift x 3 shifts that's another £45m.

Appreciate their focus is on flexible solar but some of their other business streams are huge industries.

Lets see where we are in 6 months time and reassess.

Evening VDTK board. Been looking at these for a while. Very interesting concept and thinking of jumping in soon. Sounds like the new CE is making a difference and has a strategy. What is the general mood like currently with COVID19, has this affected the opportunity for sales and production in Italy ?

Are sales likely to be imminent ? And could they start manufacturing immediately or is the factory on lockdown ?

Not if they have an NDA attached. They cannot disclose this information, therefore it is not price sensitive until it can be disclosed.

Maybe as they come with NDA's. They are currently not commercially sensitive but the potential customers do not wish for the market to know their interest for one reason or another. Therefore it is not news which could affect the share price and does not have to be reported by RNS ????
