The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Bill Clinton lived in Hope....Arkansas!
I don't live in Hope.
"....I think you might have pulled off an extremely good buying opportunity at these prices."
=========================================================
I thing he must be related to Harry Houdini. On the day of the results the intial reaction was a 20p drop & I thought it wasn't looking good. But 'somehow' the SP reversed and the SP is showing strength.
I wont start counting my chickens....this is TRMR after all.
"So, in principle, all the broker needs do is add them to your existing nominee account record. It's not a corporate action."
=======================================================
TheTrostky, so how does the broker inform the nominee account holders that a scrip dividend is an option for company they hold?
From my experience brokers offer DRIP (this is an acronym) but apparently don't process scrip dividends....or perhaps they just don't tell nominee account holders that scrip dividends are available even if the underlying company offers it.
Basically, what secret code word do I have to give to my broker to get them to do scrip dividends, assuming they are an option for a particular stock.
Pokerchips, so you're saying that if a company has a SCRIP option for dividend payment the broker should offer this to nominee accounts. How would they so this, through a corporate action?
DRIP and SCRIP are different....quite a bit different IMO (although a lot of the broker firms pretend that it's 'effectively' the same).
When I owned share vertificates I could arrange a SCRIP and I would get additional shares added at no extra cost to myself. Now I have a nominee account they require a DRIP (dividend reinvestment) that costs me money in dealing charges.
I was reading an article in AJ Bell sharemagazine the other day and they said that SCRIP dividends should be available in a nominee account.....unfortunately AJB don't practice what they preach because the AJB SIPP I have only offers DRIP. Halifax also only offer DRIP
The DRIP versus SCRIP scam!
PS I can see why they do it, more profit for them. But it is still a scam.
A huge mistake by the BBC to interview this person. His target demographic will see it as a vindication of his liefstyle. Best to ignore him. The BBC is just feeding the beast to get cheap TV.
".....but can I have a cash isa upto £20k and a share account isa ?"
======================================================
Jed, I think Greenwolf was saying IF you had saved money in a Cash ISA in PREVIOUS tax years, you could transfer all or some of that money into a Share ISA without impacting your ISA allowance for THIS year.
Obviously, you & your wife each have £20K allowance for this year (separate accounts).....you have the option to invest in a Cash ISA or a Share ISA.....in your case I presume the share ISA.
Seems odd you're au fait with 'day trading' but not ISA's.....people have built up a very sizeable tax free amount by investing £20K each year for many years.
".....but can you have an isa share coount with day trading shares"
======================================================================
Jed, I'm not sure what is meant by a 'day trading share'.....are you talking CFD's (whatever they are) or some other obscure trading instrument day traders may or may not use to maximise their profits & minimise losses.
In an ISA share account I think you can trade most shares, IT's (etc) on a daily, hourly or on a minute by minute basis....may be costly though with platform fees.
Why don't you start one of those government petitions to have a debate in parliament calling for her to resign?
"....well told the truth so she had to go"
===========================================================
CooKoo, I seem to remember things a bit differently. She didn't knowingly 'expose' weaknesses in the bond market....she inadvertently stumbled across them as she attempted to employ Trussonomics on an unsuspecting market and seriously damaged market confidence & made the UK a bit of an economic laughing stock.
A bull in a china shop.
What a deviously sneaky way to divert attention until the media scrutiny moves onto the next story....I wonder where they got the idea from?
They must have some Tory ex-ministers on the payroll as advisors....probably couldn't afford Boris though.
Caipi65, just for you. In the morning the SP was up.....now the SP down.
That's about as exciting as LGEN gets (post Truss).
"The Mail, The Sun, The Star all carry details of a payment...."
=======================================================
Tom, all good sources of reputable well-researched facts no doubt. According to the Telegraph sources at ITV said it was a redundancy payment.
How much? Was an NDA signed?....presumably questions MP's will ask ITV soon enough.
PS You want to be careful you don't slander Dame Carolyn as well. Two lawsuits wouldn't be fun!
"Redundancy and yet we are told he was moved to Loose women???? How did HR square that with HMRC?"
==========================================================
Tom, I have no idea on whether this guy was made redundant or not. But:
"There is no restriction on companies with regards to re-employing someone they have made redundant....."
[https://businessadvice.co.uk/hr-employment/can-you-work-for-the-same-company-after-a-redundancy-payout/]
Telegraph: "....but sources insisted it was a redundancy payment and not related to the relationship"
===================================================================
But they would say that wouldn't they....but if they found that an NDA was also signed then it would look a little different. Was there an NDA?
But I expect the conspiracy theorists & anti-woke coalition will make up their own minds...and come up with a conclusion that fits their agenda.
".....is found accoutable for the hush payments"
================================================
Atrm2, do you have any verifiable information on 'hush payments'?.....was an NDA signed (which would mean lawyers were involved)?
How much was paid....are we talking £100,000's?
The devil is in the detail. I was expecting it to be mentioned in the BBC this morning but nothing I can find. Tried the Metro last night but got Adblocked.
"Time for this scandal to help get her off. "
===============================================
Translation: "Time to use this scandal to get rid of her"
That is quite an agenda.
Always a bad sign when you are on the same side of the argument as someone like Eamonn Holmes.....who most would agree is 'away with the fairies!' (no not Phil)
Ignore the bit about TRMR...thought I was elsewhere for a moment.
It has always been the case. The people in charge make sure they reward themselves handsomely.....not always legally in the case of some politicians & their families in some countries.
Of course TRMR is squeaky clean. However it can be a fine line that has to be walked and sometimes you may cross the line when you hadn't intended e.g. Mike Lynch says he acted legally, HP would disagree.
The people who argue that they are being stopped from doing what needs to be done - by the courts, or the opposition or by EU regulations - probably need to be asked "What the hell do you want to achieve, that involves dismantling all the rules?....and will it be in the interest of the majority and not a very small powerful minority?!"
"The Prince's Trust has dropped Phillip Schofield as an ambassador...."

This is getting serious....just a rumour but even Prince Andrew has taken him off his Christmas card list.
