LUCY - update16 Jan 2025 06:42
From Harrison Gross;
"Now for an overdue update, clearing up some things, and sharing some hope!
I want to welcome everyone still here to 2025, and first emphasize that we remain committed to our vision of providing world-class smartglasses, and a peer-to-peer smartglass content ecosystem supported by blockchain; primarily as a virtual currency to settle content transactions between users and as a user reward system.
For those of you that have been following us closely, you may have noticed some significant improvements in our product offering in the last year:
-We have ugpraded all new frames to a flexible composite called TR90, that has greatly improved durability and adjustability.
-We are in the process of upgrading our chipsets to a better provider, which will allow even more custom utilities such as voice activation of the glasses as opposed to button activation, button mapping and equalization.
-In 2024 we hired a new audio engineering team specialized in wearables, with the goal of making our smart eyewear the best audio experience in the sector. This is important as many other companies in the space are only focused on visual display technologies, and ignoring sound and style, while these remain our immediate focus. At CES this past week I saw many smartglasses, but none we are as good and looked as good for all-day wear as ours.
-We launched the first smart safety glass for all-day wear in the world, and this product Lucyd Armor has been very popular right out of the gate. An excited new collaboration collection with Reebok is planned for this April, and I believe they will be our most popular frames yet.
-So what about LCD and software? The challenging reality, which I should have updated you on sooner, is that the Vyrb app we launched a few years ago ultimately was not equipped to realize these token utilities and the full content platform we envisioned. Vyrb was meant to be the initial basis for the LCD ecosystem and transactions in advance of an AR glass platform, and Vyrb being sidelined essentially delayed these efforts further. However, this informed the development of the Lucyd app which is already much stronger than Vyrb.
-Most importantly for this community, we have developed a powerful, entirely new software platform in the IOS/Android Lucyd app. Unlike Vyrb which used remote dev teams and hybrid code, the Lucyd app was coded natively for IOS and Android, and coded principally with our core tech team here in the US. This has resulted in a much stronger and more malleable platform, that we are able to introduce new glasses features to.
Today, the Lucyd app already offers seamless voice and text connection to GPT-4o, public “walkie” chatrooms with similar functionality to Twitter Spaces / Clubhouse, and voice access to news feeds and flight information. "
