I think it was around 2005 that Tesco introduced home deliveries. I recall there being an expression of pessimism amongst other supermarkets... Notably, Justin King, top dog at Sainsbury at the time, said he believed the physical experience could not be matched... Costs would almost certainly outweigh any profit... "let's wait and see" he said. Certainly got that wrong didn't he?
Boohoo... great model.. low cost in all respects...cash cow by all accounts.
The problem here is, other retailers started the "let's wait and see" some years ago. Long before the curse of Covid, they were all gearing up to jump on-board. Maybe spurred on by Covid they have all ramped things up and now their models are realigned. Sadly Boo will fall out of favour... Boo are a trend, nothing more.
In terms of £'s (or if you like, $'s) Boo is an easy target for takeover but no-one would be interested.
Several new platforms are on their way. As Justin said... let's wait and see!!
£4 was the all time high for Boo... will never ever get anyway near that again, I'm sorry to say.
