RE: Novacyt visit to Kuwait - 3 weeks ago.11 Jan 2023 14:58
From Transcript of Half year 2022 results presentation post 29.09.2022 RNS:
Q&A session -
Q7 How is Novacyt intending to grow the business internationally?
DA response
"What we've done internationally, number one, we were operationally a UK based company and thatβs the home market.
We were already expanding into Europe, we have a more direct presence in Europe, covering Germany and Southern Europe, but we also have coverage now directly with Middle East.
We will be very judicious in deploying our teams on the ground, but we are certainly enhancing the distribution network with those individuals initially as described earlier,
we've had a huge amount of work to get the right partners and ensure we are working closely with them in all the key markets."
Temporarily with the FCO in charge, I would assume there is no change (since end of September) to the above modus operandi.
From 'Advanced Medical German Company'
"We have also established the in-house laboratory infrastructure at Kuwait Food Laboratory for detection of Genetic Modified Organism - GMO and Pork Fat analysis in food products fit for human consumption, as per the mandatory guidelines set by Kuwait Ministry of Health"

I like the sound of 'Mandatory Guidelines' there.
Research reveals Kuwait relies upon and imports the vast majority of its food and beverage products.

DETECTING GMOS IN FOOD IMPORTED TO KUWAIT
Using science to protect consumers
"Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are becoming increasingly prevalent in the global food production chain. However, the presence of GMOs in the Kuwaiti markets is currently unknown. Understanding the relationship between the genetic quality of food and public health the Biotechnology Program initiated a project to investigate the prevalence of GMOs in the food available throughout Kuwait. Researchers from the program conducted a series of tests to characterize the DNA of food sold to the public. It was found that a significant number of food commodities sold in Kuwait were positive for the presence of GMOs. The research indicated the need for well-defined legislation on labeling to protect consumers rights, as well as creating awareness among the people in Kuwait about foods containing GMOs."

If they legislate, (or have legislated since this undated webpage), so will others in the middle east, that's possibly why we have direct coverage in the Middle East.
It's not all about Pork Fat.
