What about the 100 DMA or the 200 DMA ? Isn't Gold just consolidating while the market waits to see the size of Bidens package ( stimulus of course )
The huge debt to GDP and increased M2,3 and 4 means even if Covid were to disapear overnight the printing presses must still run = asset price inflation ( look at houses, classic cars, books) and the price of bitcoin !

Yes and with the ASIC increasing here Centamin has now become much more geared to the Gold price. Need to see the price of gold showing more signs of upward movement for this to re-rate.

The shorts here had reduced to practically nothing a good few months ago. So it could be as you say the last few shorts getting out but I feel its more likely to be accumulation. Chrysoar ?? Can yiu find Majedies current holding ?

Gold dropped over 5% ( at one point ) in a single day. This was the biggest single day drop in 7 years. CEY is geared to the gold price ( even more so with the higher ASIC )
Analysts are still expecting gold to rise above $2000 over the next year.

I didn't think Covid was adding anything to the price of gold ( holding it back if anything )I thought it was all the stimulus/ low interest rates, ESMA, and increase in the Money supply.
None of this has changed so hopefully today was a complete over reaction.

There are some other stocks with more shorts..besides we had close to 30% at one point. Its also worth looking at the value of those shorts verses say the 5% short on some multi billion mcap house builders or banks.

Or you could frame it another way a bigger company backed by assets and private equity with much lower debt gearing and lower breakeven costs.

Agreed, I can't see World Quant wanting to remain short if they see Gold pushing back over $2000.
I have watched their shorting patterns before ( on Oil stocks ) they are a Quant fund which means they short based on algorythim, order flow, market patterns etc. They are not a 'conviction' shorter so they haven't taken a particular dislike to Centamin, just taking advantage of the weakness in my view.
