When I say attacking courts and lawyers, I don’t mean for good reason. They are terribly underfunded because they support law. The problem is this government doesn’t like it, because they wish to act outside of the law & persecute anyone who points this out. It’s very insidious, very different & in part why everyone sees investments decline, as investors wonder what crazyness comes next. Everything from reducing citizen rights, breaking international law only on a very specific and limited basis to now, human rights. Any idea why only the uk (Russia & China) can’t seem to operate inside these frameworks? I mean, every other civilised nation / government does?

When right wing governments go too far right, they want to divide a nation by selling lies and misinformation to the vulnerable who will listen. Blaming immigrants, the EU, attacking courts, nurses, teachers, only recognising their kind of free speech, these are all right wing failings, 1930’s Germany, Italy, the daily mail, telegraph, express all share the same “enemies of the state” & “ will of the people” favourites. They all start off blaming the most vulnerable, before moving on to greater things, single mothers, disabled, immigrants. Its why nothing important get done or discussed, because they are too busy doing right wing things, up to and including, only benefiting people and things that matter to them and their friends (PPE dodgy PPE contracts, rather than a coordinated response )

That’s your actual answer. It’s why the loons are in place & it’s why uk has imposed sanctions on itself. It’s also why silly boats, pretend culture wars and lost WhatsApp messages are the most important thing on their agenda.

Fleccy I agree will potentially impact BT and VMO2 because they need to invest, although VM is seeing growth.

The logic would be, if BT and VM need to make these increases clearer, in big bold warnings (a’la cigarette packets) then the providers who are not investing in new networks won’t need to, so will lose more customers to the operators with less warnings….

These price increases were effectively BT’s plan to increase revenue. It matters in all kinds of ways & of course other providers are not spending on network upgrades like BT is.

Apple box is definitely good. I can’t see any point having boxes that record, everything can be streamed with apps. OTT apps will get BT to non BT BB customers.

Looks like BT consumer (ee) is trying to become a cable company, whilst the cable industry is looking to flirt with wholesale services.

If they don’t, could end up in hedge fund, if they are interested it wouldn’t work for them. If they don’t cross 30% then a big increase in shares signals their intentions

Interesting article. IMO the senior management links and Comcast cable mentality will want wholesale deals with Virgin (the cable option) in the UK (in the future) for no other reason than they will be drawn to it.

I don’t necessarily think BT is in terminal decline but I can see several scenarios where it could be. My assessment is it’s on a knife edge right now & it’s best laid plans might not pay off

I was reading last week about satellite backhaul for 5G Vodafone being at the forefront. It’s probably not quite there, yet aside for exceptions rather than the rule, this could be the beginning of several services BT ( according to you) rely on coming under pressure.

Openreach are only one large scale wholesale contract away from disaster, even if they share network providers & play them off against each other.

& right now, i’m struggling to see how BT will complete their FTP schedule in time, without buying smaller operators.

fibre take up isn’t anywhere near where it needs to be. Meanwhile it looks like BT’s BAU is being disrupted, I see more faults being reported & service levels getting worse and worse.

EE will soon be the smallest mobile operator in the uk should three & Vodafone merge. From largest to smallest in under 10 years of BT ownership.

& there isn’t going to be a bid, why would anyone bid, when BT keeps following a downward trajectory & whose luck needs to hold in the short to medium term.

IMO. Rewards could be high, as are the risks right now.

Hey lil Rod, don’t forget DT cannot make an offer lower than the maximum amount they have already paid…. I’m sure there will be a way round this, but based on this, they cannot bid £3.00 a share.

Just looking at the share price, doesn’t seem to be even the slightest speculation of a bid.

I would suggest the market and therefore share price doesn’t take it seriously yet.
