BumbleB, you have had a bee in your bonnet for some time now about the difference between an expectation and a promise, And what you say below is absolutely correct.

But as you know perception is everything. AFC raised expectations in mid November. They were pretty stupid to do so unless they were fairly certain they were deliverable. Failure to do as expected leads to further concern about whether they have any grip on what they are doing at all so, whether couched as a promise, an expectation or a mere hope, the results are the same. They failed to make it happen. Although they haven't yet, as thyey still have next week to go. That's a lot of RNSs however to cover the suggested developments across the three commercial areas and the technical stuff (see DW's posts below for detail).

So either AFC is going to let us down again (and who would bet against that) or AB is the sort of chap who thinks he is driving up his driveway when he is actually still 20 miles from home. If the latter one wonders if he is the best driver to have at the wheel.

Please don't post further about the difference between a promise and an expectation.....it feels pedantic and detracts from your otherwise excellent and hugely welcome posts.

A 100MW unit by 2025?

Remind me how long it has taken AFC to get to where they are now.

AFC need to be careful of the turbulence as others rush past.

I note no changes to the awful errrors on the website as yet. Does the BOD care about anything at present??

Looks like we are heading towards the 3s. Suspect the BOD will respond as they did last time we had a rapid fall and do absolutely nothing.

Having been with this company for ten years as an investor this greatly saddens me, but latterly my cynicism around AFC has got the better of me...probably justifiably.

I think this may be the end of the road. Unless someone knows a lot more than we do the SP is not at a level to support a fundraise and there remains no tangible progress.

Someone mentioned 1GW by 2020 earlier today....that was yesterday's pipe dream I'm afraid. The market has judged where this is going. I have no problem with the fact that we gambled on a technology that is not succeeding....I have a huge problem with the deceit and misdirection towards PIs from the board. This has informed my investment decisions and I have hence lost a lot of money. Very disappointing from a company I thought was better than that.

On the "how it works" page of the website we have a video showing automated assembly of a completely obsolete stack.

Doubles all round I think....

Never mind a video with a vision for the future......I'd settle for a board with a vision for the future.

Hang on..we have that. The markets page on the AFC website says:

"Detailed engineering & procurement will now commence, ensuring the system will be capable of deployment in 2016"

So roll on 2016 and all will be well at AFC!

Some one at AFC really needs to sort this out.

....but on the strategy page they are still talking about fuel cells capable of deployment in 2017. Incompetent.

Well that's another week done with no news. It seems that AFC is saving all the RNSs for the last two weeks before Christmas.

Aren't they??

The AFC energy website still mentions the MOU and 300MW on its Middle East page. It also mentions roll out at such events as Expo 2020.

Then again, it still mentions (in at least 2 places) the intention to have a system capable for deployment in 2017!

It would be nice to know if these MOUs are in any way still active, and simply waiting for PLACE and the right electrode pairings to come to fruition.

I don't think the website is too bad...although there are some very poor elements. For example on the strategy page under "our business model it talks about a system capable of deployment in 2017. Unforgivable.

And the strap line on the landing page: The AFC energy has the potential to be the catalyst, which transforms the way in which industries of today produce energy for tomorrow". That comma is grammatically just wrong and should not be there. And the line is rubbish anyway.

So two errors.....but then again I only looked at 2 pages.

Someone needs to go over the website with a fine toothed comb. It is after all our shop window.

This December situation with AFC....hope, expectation then failure....is about as predictable as the arrival of Christmas itself. A manufacturing deal with De Nora will hardly be a surprise and will not budge the sp one iota as that relationship is already well known.

AFC needs to show the world exactly what problem it can solve. It seems still not to be sure itself.

A fair response Desertwolf, although the traction thus far would suggest that I am not switching into extremes. i hope you are right, in which case I look forward to lots of contracts in the near future.
Why do you think the market, as reflected in the SP, does not seem to see any potential in this?

Sadly nothing directly here for AFC, and fuel cells not even mentioned. We may benefit from our interest in AFC.
This announcement reflects my concerns. The vehicular hydrogen market will expand rapidly, marginalising the likes of AFC in the economy as big stationary power generation projects seem to be no longer in the game - certainly for AFC who seem to talk more about temporary and back up power generation. Let's hope Southern Oil changes that.

1 GW by 2020 is history. Time to set realistic standards and expectations. Personally I am now looking for an SP in the pence range not pounds. I hope they can deliver. No further significant announcements this year would be serious though given their promises (Cue Bumble B to tell me they weren't promises....well I'm afraid that when made so late in the year in the way they were the week before last the market will treat them as promises. You can't suggest outcomes like that "within weeks" and not bring them off).

We are on a knife edge and it really could go either way.

I fully agree Chippy. I think this post is a lot more positive than perceived. There is clear talk of technical progress, clear expectation around manufacturing agreements and the news that we have developed a more compact space-saving solution. The problem is that Adam is suffering now from the failure of his assertions in the past to come to fruition. If however the potential in this update comes to pass then there may be very good times ahead for AFC. We need the promises for the year end to come good and then it's game on at a time when interest in the hydrogen economy is waking up.

There is much truth in the position both you and Whatifind hold. The truth as ever will be somewhere in the middle. And the hot air emanating from both ends of the argument are simply a reflection of the fact that AFC is saying nothing at the moment. Let's hope that changes with something positive soon given the rhetoric and promises for 2018. Just writing that last line makes me yawn.......

Notes, Adam Bond is not a salesman. He is CEO of a public limited company and it's about time he started acting like one.

Might be worth ringing AFC to find out if anyone is actually there. I would but I simply can't be bothered with this company any more.
