I agree about the flip-side and it being very bad should a deal then not occur.

But equally, many people would have sold as the share price crashed the other week. If a deal suddenly occurs, they will feel badly manipulated and let down, and could equally feel like 'combing their hair with a shotgun' (great phrase BTW!), having missed out on life-changing sums...

I appreciate that Jim, but they'd have known full well how the market would have interpreted the statements.

IMHO, at the very least, the statements are just trying to put a positive spin on a negative situation. If this is not the case, then why not word the statements in a more categorical manner, that left no room for (mis)interpretation.

Why actually 'dampen down' a positive message, unless the occurrence being written about is not positive.

"A bit naughty" ?? That would be market manipulation, and strictly illegal.

Knowing full well a placing, and/or potential deal were imminent, yet wording an RNS as it was worded, would also be manipulation.

They'd have known full well the share price would crash, as it appeared that the RNS stated the major had walked.

The resources have been independently verified by Moyes &Co. The only way to prove them is to drill. No amount of poring over data, that has already been gone over, will produce any more answers.

The major has likely gone over the data before signing the exclusivity deal.

Don't think the data is the issue IMO, it's the % deal split, or something else.

Seems to me, all that's happening is the spread is being manipulated. The price hasn't actually changed since yesterday....

If BPC recommenCed discussions back in early August, would that now put BPC in breach of the exclusivity part of the Confidentiality and Exclusivity Agreement?

I agree, anything could happen if a JV announcement is made. I just didn't want there to be any misunderstanding about where the 50p figure was coming from.

If it is speculation as to a possible rise, that makes sense. Just didn't want anyone, esp. newbies, thinking it was a direct comparison to previous share price 'ceiling'.

The number of shares in issue was very different during the days of 40p/2p, to how it is today. Market Cap was different.

IMO 50p is too much to expect, and 20p would be closer to the max in the scenario you describe, Parpaing.

About not needing another job, I see the point, but it's all relative, and it's also about reputation and social standing (at the golf club, perhaps!)

Hmm, so current share price/market cap, BPC would need to be around 12p, in order to be a parity with the 20.5p mentioned in the 2011 article in the Investors Chronicle.

Market Cap today is a lot higher (due to increased number of shares in issue), than it was back when the share price was 26p. So, we may climb to 15-20p, but I'm not sure we can easily get to 26p without serious news IMO

I'm a big believer in chance too. It can be easy to put success down to skill, and failures down to luck, but the truth is, of course, that luck plays a large role in everything.
