However, given that an error occurred in the MFE220 which caused a critical issue, they clearly either changed something from the MFE110, which has now caused the error, or something was not assembled or configured properly or indeed something else entirely. Perhaps as the error did not occur with the MFE110 it did not initiate the shutdown procedure which then resulted in the damage with the MFE220. We are in the dark as a result but I hope the issue is resolved swiftly.

Given that the smaller MFE110 unit passed its FAT testing in September 2024, it has proven that the technology itself can be produced without an issue. They will be able to compare and contrast what they did differently. They have also been developing a second gen MFE220 unit so will now learn what not to pass onto that unit in terms of configuration.

Australian Vanadium has just received an LOI for $31 debt financing. The electrolyte they produce is used in the IES Kununarra project. Bodes well for future projects.

The problem with chatGPT in this case is that whilst it assembles data it doesn’t reflect the current pricing. Towards the end of last year a review comparing LFP, Sodium and VRFB highlighted the pros and cons. It concluded by stating that LFP and VRFB were similar in terms of cost over the same lifetime. Sodium was highlighted as being marginally more expensive at that time but only because it had a much smaller production rate than LFP. Since then LFP and Sodium cells have dropped significantly especially the former due to lithium carbonate dropping significantly more in price over the past year. Sodium cells will reduce in price further as the material is inherently a lot cheaper to extract and produce than lithium.

It was at 19p prior to the latest RNS; given the signalled delay highlighting they need to decrease the cost to achieve a positive margin and illustrating the lack of sales or contracted orders why would it reach that level in the near term?

I don’t think there’s much scepticism that the product works; their VS3 has been trialled in several locations. However the price is critical. LFP has fallen considerably over the past 18 months and the forecast is for it to fall further. If you then add onto that sodium batteries with a longer lifecycle that are starting to be mass produced with a cheaper end cost, will that not make these flow batteries even harder to make profitable? Big players like BYD and CATL are refining every part of the manufacturing process for both technologies in order to reduce costs while maintaining quality and safety.

The RNS just confirmed they sold over 9M yesterday.

No, this is the breakdown: 7.1M total till the 12th Feb

1.5M went to pay back creditors they owed. Circa 4M went to working capital as stated in the fundraising RNS and circa 0.5M to capex. They subsequently sold the Sunderland production plant for £0.6M. 10 days after that they said they had to make plans for administration if they could not sell the company (fundraising at this level would be impossible given the Mcap). So £7.7M gone in total since December 2023.
