Cobus Loots, CEO of Pan African Resources, on delivering sector-leading returns for shareholders. Watch the video here.
Happy New Year all. A new year and new hope. At least the brexit fiasco is moving on for better or worse - who knows really. Take care, I hope the coming months are good to all of us in the way of health and happiness.
I often think we are all delusional on here. Had another top up today @ 4.55. Probably shouldn't have. I can understand the system allowing the share speculation, that's how it is, but I am hoping that common sense with a bank that does well will prevail - and I live to see it! Hopefully brexit will finish and doesn't do much damage to our share, the Irish government shares are released and 50% of the profit to the shareholders materializes. GLA.
Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year to all. After this year (and previous seismic years) I hope we start to see improvements in the share price as brexit works its way through the system. In our local BoI they have made some great internal improvements, its a much comfier and brighter place to use the machines. I haven’t been at a counter here for years. The online site is good, easy to use. I can see things beginning to happen under our new leader. GLA.
This is what the Irish Times said - According to the bank’s results for 2017, it reported growth of 41 per cent in new mortgage lending, and increased its market share to 27 per cent. Its move into the broker market could see its share increase even further.
I don't know if the results on Monday morning will add any meat to that. GLA.
Interesting move from BofI UK. I wonder if that model for first time buyers could be replicated here in Ireland. Good to see a move upwards on the share price, but it still remains a very frustrating share to own. Interesting couple of months coming up with the dividend payment and the Investor Day in the UK. This new POst Office deal should help that day along nicely. Maybe this is the start of some good news on the way the new boss is going to move this bank onwards and upwards. GLA
Looks like a few changes at our beloved.. I hope they are a sign that the bank is going ahead with direction and a game plan. https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2018/0306/945309-bank-of-ireland-management-changes/ GLA.
Back in the 70's and 80's we had to deal with double digit interest rates in the UK. Does anyone remember the 3 day week? Imagine doing that today - there would be war. My point is we got through it and we will get through the coming interest hikes, which I am sure are coming. Just be prudent - if you can. GLA
I hope there's more to this rise than just speculation on the coming results. It would be great if 8 was well and truly broken and left behind us. In my life there have always been ups and downs on interest rates and you dealt with the situation at the time, either you could afford it or you couldn't, but I always took out insurance to cover illness and redundancy, two scenarios that I had no control over. It is damn cold here in Dublin. May the rise continue and stick. GLA
That's the problem,, Cameron wasn't thinking straight and was completely bamboozled by Farage and Ukip - look at them now. If he had only called their bluff, at worst there might have been another election. I have been in this share from 2008 and 2022 is my end date. GLA
If 7 is a distant memory, what about the .38c equivalent at 11.4. as Martin1 says and I agree, how stupid have I been. Hopefully Francesca will kick this bank along and get it back to where it should be or better. I only hope she isn't stifled by other board members. Bitcoin looks good compared to this share. GLA
I agree that this share has not delivered what we thought it should and its manipulation is most frustrating. I have been in for a long time and missed the 38c point. However I have decided to stay and see what another year and the expected dividend does to the share. For the first time recently I received an email from the bank asking how they are doing - sign of some progress? GLA
