I've been researching PET since July, do you think the high powered Irish delegation to Ghana (announced this morning) is a coincidence tied in with the ratification of the licence offshore? Do you think the likely farm partner for the Porcupine Basin be Exxon?

Slightly disagree (only slightly) we'll see some selling as people take their Xmas Bonuses from previous sales, not realising that the New Year Bonus will be even bigger. I think the next RNS will be 31 Dec 12 unless Ghana story unfolds fast and the farm partner for the Porcupine Basin is announced, but anyway, stroll on 2013 :)

I'm just assuming that with the recent visit to Ghana from the Irish delegation that the ratification of the Ghana licence will happen and as stated in the latest release this will be enough capital to oversee all 3 ventures? :)

Update released today fated yesterday...excellent news, all on PET website (need to read it all, but here's some: This month, Petrel Resources (“Petrel”) announced significant progress on its desk-based technical work on its two Porcupine Basin (Irish Atlantic Margin) licence options. The major positives were the potential size of the targets and the number of different play concepts identified in stacked targets in Tertiary, Cretaceous and Jurassic age zones. Petrel announced that its Quad 35 targets may aggregate 1bn bbls for the Tertiary alone. With size one of the most important factors in attracting a farm in partner to fund costly seismic and deep water drilling (potentially c. $100m), the announcement was welcomed by the market and shares appreciated c. 350% on the day. We are mindful that these are still early stages pre-farm out and pre- comprehensive 3D seismic (though the company is currently processing a 700 km2 line for the eastern portion of Quad 35). However, the completion of this in depth work suggests a greater probability of farm out success with a number of boxes ticked so far and others being worked on and we have upgraded our valuation range to reflect this scenario. We now view our Base Case as unlikely and upgrade our Mid Case to 15.8p (previous 10.9p) and Upside Case to 31.1p (previous 14p).

Someone mentioned last week, that after the presentation in London the BOD were off to China, if this is true, then we'll have to wait until they get back.

Gone all quiet, I suppose we are waiting on the next bit of news, investment from China????? Farm Partner???? Iraq????Ghana????? Anything????? :))

Didn't the BTG release a story after the company's RNS based on findings in Quad 35 and 45 and the potential of 1 Bn barrels? The price rose to almost 32.5p after the RNS, but settled and died off after individuals took a quick buck after realising to get to the drilling stage may take a little while and once again rose steadily last week awaiting a presentation in London to investors and potential partners. I now believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the team are currently seeking a farm partner and there is talk of potential interest from China?

Here are my thoughts, I bought in late (wish I had of bought in at 6p), but for me all the facts are there, no hidden agenda, no false statements or individuals speculating (not like NVTA...lol), the company is doing well, in the black, and apart from the operations in Iraq and Ghana, the prospect of farming 1 Bn Barrels in the Porcupine Basin is very real according to the scientific facts released last week (backed up by Dublin University). They have held their price real good this week, considering individuals speculating on a re-trace, there's only one certainty for me, that we are in a very good position at the moment and you're right, I would expect them to rise significantly on the next bit of good news, whether that is news of a Farm partner or expansion into Iraq or Ghana...looking good, and what I have learnt (after nearly getting my fingers burnt with NVTA yesterday - glad I didn't, and got too involved with speculation) is go with the facts and don't listen to any speculation to ramp or re-trace...These will go North, they may flutter up and down for a little while but be strong and you (we) will reap the benefits.

We think alike, managed to buy 126K at 6.41p yesterday and the choice was between NVTA or LRL (could have bought in at LRL at 22p) I think NVTA will come good reading between the lines, loan secured, just need production figures and hopefully a high rise?????
