Putin needs Ukraine as a bulwark against NATO,and why not?All the countries in NATO are aligned against Russia in particular,I don't blame him.In any case no-one batted an eyelid when we invaded Iraq, also a sovereign state.Sanctions will not worry him as China will take as much gas, coal and minerals as Russia can produce. If he invades a NATO country(which he won't)well that would be another matter. Also he will have a lot of cheap wheat to feed his peasants !
Hi Bald_Eagle.They are now calling the interim dividend and the final dividend a "Special" dividend which is paid twice yearly. Therefore there is no l additional special dividend as we properly know it.You will get 6 cents per share on 21st.September.Sorry,you will have to put the champers back on ice.I suppose they are calling it "special" because dividends are so rare these days !
BBW-I find myself agreeing with you as usual. The only reason that we are not in recession is that the last 2 quarters have been so abysmal this quarter looks so good.We live in a fairytale world where government debt is out of control and revenue falling off a cliff. But never mind, they just add it to the national debt which is now more than £2 trillion and which thet have no intention of paying down as long as they keep paying the interest-which is why interest rates are kept artificially low. After all we are one of the richest countries in the world! How can you be rich with that debt pile?So there you have it in a nutshell.Keep the Tramadol close to hand.
Hi BBW.Hope you are right, but can't see that happening.Don't forget that Ivan and his team are paid in dividends not salary.so there is no incentive to jack up the share price as long as they are making enough to cover the dividend.
150,000 houses a year, hardly "booming" I think.Lloyds oracle states "unemployment will peak in 2021 at 12.5%,national income will shrink by 17.7% this year, and house prices will fall by just under 30% over a 3 year period".Not a good omen.Hard times ahead for the economy, and the housing market in particular. We are heading deeper into recession, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
