Not used this before but tried an option 'ichimoku cloud' . Its quite busy to look at but I get the point about the 'price above the cloud' shown here at 5minutes.

Yes, I think the 'carrying value' of the investment was excluded but the liabilities included (so a worst case?). Think there was a total of c€7.6Bn (Vod + Aditya Birla) to pay to the 'dept of telecomms' and now is wrapped up in the new deal structure. Still think the outcome is for VOD to meet its FY guidance. Will be interesting to see what it does to the balance sheet and performance metrics. Presumably they should be able to write back the 'new' investment and will that increase net assets?

I imagine so. Think its one of those signals heralding the return of globalisation after trump..
Bloomberg just discussing deglobalisation as a driver of inflation, so interest will be peaked if you are a policy maker concerned about inflation. Nick is also evidencing his global leadership, reinforcing the 'social contract' strategy whilst delivering appropriate ROC.
We might see something in Europe next!

The carrying value of idea was reduced to nil last FY. Presumably the dilution is 'nil' with cashflow commitments underpinned by Gov?

they will take market share from those operators not offering 5G. A 2G device wont work on a 3G network.

VOD has been hard work, it dropped so much if you were in at £2+. Dipping in and out avoided some of the drop and better stocks meant missing some of the bounces.

I stuck with it and more or less recovered with the prospect of a decent div from here.

145 mid 2022 seems possible off the back of growth and fcf improvements.

Upgrading my wifes handset recently introduced me to VODs EVO handset pricing. While I can buy online for less, an Apple or similar could acquire that kind of procurement infrastructure with some physical and or virtual network reach and then the SP might be alot higher?

VOD sum of the parts must be worth more than 112p and pays a div while we wait for the recovery?

The argument cannibalising your own retail offering by allowing another wholesale operator access to your network has been with the industry since the start. While vantage conveys 'economic cost' advantages and network efficiencies to all market participants, regulation is designed to encourage growth through new product development and innovation rather than relying on cost reduction to remain profitable . Any operator just relying on cost reduction will exit the market.

Well, everyone in our household is double jabbed and all the elders have had boosters. Even so, my daughter now has covid and under quarentine. Unsurprisingly, but taken for granted, household communications are by mobile phone from room to rom (VOD in our case). 'Dad, can you make me a cup of tea and a slice of toast?' etc. We also use VOD broadband and my daughter is comfortable enough quarentined in her room with sky, netflix, OTT service and contact with friends and family etc.

Strange then that VOD SP under Covid seems to follow the 'reduced footfall' narrative, even though it seems the VOD model is immune. H1 results clearly show VOD is doing well under Covid?

I recently upgraded 2 contracts and it was all done via Tobi and online with new phones etc arriving without any issues and life continues as normal.

I think telecoms is an unsung hero of Covid. Not just socially. Work from home, online shop from home delivered to your door etc. New business are thriving off the infrastructure and we now order bits and pieces from the localTesco using the last mile starship technologies robot, delivered to our front door and all done over the mobile.

VOD has been greatly under appreciated. With great H1 results and raised guidance to the top end of the range for the full year, I think its up from here.

This chart shows my take on the weekly candles (last 3 weeks positive close in a row and may signal consolidation and a reversion of the recent downtrend?).

It also shows the trend on overbought oversold signals, bollinger bands. Overbought appears capped at 145 while oversold is slowly rising, possibly converging at 145 in 2022. Lots of daily volatility but underlying up imo. So my strategy is buy, hold and rebalance the portfolio mix as opportunities arise.

With such great results for H1, evidenced by a spike to 120 last week, in addition to the dividends, we might also get a few more spikes up along the way on news? When we get to (say) 145, we should also have FY results and I will reassess then.

I think VOD could do well here. C.10% of the €780Bn EU grants is up for grabs andcplays into this space creating jobs. VOD, Meta et all creating alot of jobs in this space at the momemt.

following what I think Mole was saying, I would rebalance my existing portfolio.
In the case of Vod I am adding, and reducing elsewhere.

and 3rd successive week higher close. Options expiry this week vs ex div next week could see a little bounce next week.
