“Sutherland being dragged down by this” That’s funny. When he joined in late 2014 the share price was c£20 now it’s £8.60!
Sutherland takes millions home every year and owns 70k shares while Mr D has seen his net worth steadily evaporate!

Seems that way! Bizarre. I thought that the fact he had bought more shares today meant the “market” realised they ain’t currently under any offer conditions! And thus the sp drop. Dunno.
I agree with you that with the MDC shareholding this wont be independent for much longer.

Needs a strong and experienced permanent CEO appointed and quickly. Also need to replace their US President. Then drive this baby for several quarters without any bad surprises and with some steady growth the shares will recover some of their lustre.....IMO

Yes I have read those comments and I understand the point you are making. However IMO large shareholders will decide the future and not Mr Bamford. I’m no fashion expert but it seems a tough business model with decisions on purchasing seasonal product and ranges having a quick impact on profitability. I had assumed that Mr D was having a less and less hands on role after bringing in CEO Mr Sutherland back in 2014. If I was an institutional shareholder in SDRY I know who I’d back between Mr D and Mr S.

Possibly. I just can’t see the downside of bringing Mr D back into the fold. Probably a few bruised egos in the way, but ultimately in the best interest of shareholders. It’s not like MR D has to prove himself!!! :))

Nice opportunity & right on message. Hewitt was a great gas asset and one of the first in the Southern gas basin. It produced gas for many years and was the backbone of Phillips Petroleum in the U.K. back in the 1970s & 80s if this is analogous to Hewitt and it’s located onshore then proving up the size of the gas discovery will be exciting.

Quite. He (you will remember) is the bloke who sold his PE firm’s equity stake to MDC for about 370p per share and IPO’d Spire to the public markets at a much higher share price. He can afford to buy a few shares.

Any sp movement around these levels is just a movement in the massive spread. Hard to see it moving much until we discover some oil down there.

A Board of Directors spreading their risk and improving their balance sheet! How refreshing. Gets my vote.

Interims in 10 days will be interesting. I agree that they should be busier as drilling activity picks up....

They’ve already flagged up to the market with their 15 October RNS to expect disappointment. Blaming the weather everywhere, trading partner difficulties, F/X losses, accelerated investments in digital etc etc. There can only be a positive surprise after that RNS.

A couple of phrases int heir RNS had me scratching my head: “lower participation categories” and “a focus on more relevant innovation”. Implying they had being involved in irrelevant innovation???
