RE: NCYT/GDR26 Nov 2020 19:06
This "rumour" coming out of the blue doesn't make any sense.
NCYT has long had POC instruments in the form of the Q16 and Q32. Additionally, they've just bought the very company which conceived and produced these instruments.
So if they wanted a smaller device, why would they shell money to buy another company... when they could just spend this money internally ? It's not like they urgently need such device anyway.
In addition, the only competitive advantage that GDR had and which could have made it a potential acquisition target, i.e. its freeze dried bead ready-to-use test, is already in the process of being bypassed by NCYT - since they're developing a similar technology.
Finally, NCYT said they'd consider acquiring profit-making companies. This doesn't square with GDR, which is loss-making and indebted.
So, all things considered, this talk of GDR being bought out by NCYT sounds rubbish.
