Fair point why invest in any company dealing with the USA , I dont know anymore. I had GSK shares for years along with BP and Shell etc. Now I am out of oilers and BIG Pharma its always bothered me that most claims founded or otherwise always come out of the USA , yet the UK never ever hits them back with claims etc over anything . , I have never believed we had a special relationship with the USA , the land of the free is the most corrupt nation on earth . Trump has it in for big Pharma too , expect him to pick on the non US Pharma companies first..Good luck all

I have to admit I sold all my GSK to preserve my inheritance from my late mother once this Zantac witch hunt started against GSK. .I have held the money in a war chest but a bit underwhelmed the SP did not go up a lot more today and more importantly hold its earlier 5% gain at least !!!.The devils in the detail are GSK still going to get kicked hard by others not settling ? and I am still uneasy we have set a precedence to every low life lawyer in the USA to try their luck and bring out even more rent a victims to start a new zantac line to the courts doors, especially all those cases rightfully dismissed earlier on they wont sit quiet ? .I wont be diving back in at the moment I am sorry to say. ..Its BP all over again ,they know if they get enough people making up story's they will get swamped for years and its cheaper to fold and pay up. For what my opinion is worth I dont think the Dame has done anything to protect and help the poor share holders here , quick swallow some Zantac and make a claim u will get better rewarded I feel.

Well my 30K top up paid off for a change , my comments re lazy journalism still stands, RIO is no dead duck just because of Chinas property market it has been trading world wide for many many years .

Good luck Salamander , I am retired also so look for income where ever it is ' Reasonably ' safe and more profitable than a gov savings bond etc. I do Like good earners like sin stocks such as IMB etc , used to love the oilers till HMG started to tax the life out of them , they will kill the golden goose very soon or Shell and BP they will just leave the country and FTSE Altogether and who can blame them. Just hope RIO does not get hampered by some Wok nonsense as well.

Put another £30k in last week so bloody hope this is not a dead cat bounce? . This is just my gut feeling but despite all the neg China news and its property bubble bla bla bla which uses the rougher grade iron ore etc anyway , demand for the higher grade ore in the future is also going to be supplied by other Rio mines. Plus with all the electric vehicle and net zero targets being set we will see demand for steel , copper , Lithium etc etc which again RIO can supply in spades over the next few decades. The old iron ore will depreciate in importance over the decades for Rio earnings with hopefully new markets like India etc taking in some slack demand from China . I dont think RIO is a Lemon going forward but as always DYOR and who knows how wars and world events will bugger things up in the future ?

Do other investors here feel like me that there is a lot of lazy financial Journalism about RIO. Its as if Rio exists solely for the purpose of supplying iron ore to the Chinese property steel market and sells little else to anybody else on the entire planet.I accept the Chinese property market is in a mess but steel is required all over the world for things other than flats .Iron ore, copper, lithium etc are and will be required in the future as they always were before the Property boom was even started in China. I also k China is being very clever and will stockpile resources in the same way it did during covid , as it stands to benefit from all the negative news it is probably peddling.

is it me or are all the uk mp's on the funny ***s the last 2 years ? .how on earth do they intend to police this wok nonsense of banning cig sales to certain age groups ? who is going to police it exactly ?. anyone that goes down a&e at the weekends can see that class a,b,c drugs and in particular the number 1 enemy alcohol are the biggest cause of social ills, domestic violence and public order in my book. . i am retired old bill , i have banged up enough prisoners to know what drugs really screw up people and get the fists and knives out, and its not a pack of 20 ***s i assure you .

Must admit I am rather underwhelmed by the SP move since Labour took over. would of hoped maybe a 10% gain in light of the money the gov want to throw at renewables. I must confess I am a die hard petrol head but since the gov want to kill the golden goose and tax the oilers out of the UK with all their taxes it seems, I dont know where is best to jump too anymore. Common sense and a robust diverse self sufficient energy policy seem to be the last thing on Labours mind.

Thank you Actuary and Gerry for your views , Its all smoke and mirrors at the moment, not a great lover of Milliband anyway but now I am not sure he knows what he is doing with wind and stopping further north sea oil and gas exploration ?. Banging a drum about 2030 green energy is easy , getting anyone to listen and wanting to invest in his ideas is another matter. Not sure if I have wanted to believe in UKW prospects and future rise in SP to much ? time will tell.

I keep trying to find info as to whether UKW are putting in for any contracts etc which allegedly are being offered by Ed Milliband in his crusade for green energy. Billions of pounds of new gov investment keep being banded about and promised by the media over HMG drive towards green electricity by 2030 yet no hard facts 'If any exist?' as to HOW and WHO are going to actually achieve it are given. Is UKW just a bit player lucky to get just crumbs out of all this investment ?

This is my only share that has gone up this week so hopefully a good sign of future gains as the green agenda and net zero are pushed by Labour whether its a good idea or not..

This long running deal / battle and the fact RIO I believe already own the land and mining rights to the Lithium should make this share go up today big time what ever is happening elsewhere even in China ! Its a massive opportunity for RIO , its the usual story the SP is moved which ever way the dealers want bugger the logic.

Sorry I don't know if a date has even been listed yet ? but most legal systems move at glacial speeds as it makes more money for the legal system especially when you throw a few adjournments and appeals in for good measure followed by a re trial all in the name of justice !!! .Lets hope 4-12 months time ? this is why large companies pay up even when they know they have a good chance of winning etc as all this hangs over companies and share prices and the legal vultures know it.

Well none of us have a crystal ball Denby , but if GSK loose at court we will be wide open for major compensation claims and further litigation using the result as legal presidence. The SP will def fall big time. On the plus side GSK has won so far at various court cases and paid of others So how lucky do you feel ? If we win 2000 plus SP quite quickly is realistic as we are under rated compared to our peers .If we loose god knows ? but 1000 would be realistic short term and constant litigation threats will weigh for years and years on the SP just as they are at the moment. The choice is yours alone Denby , I just don't trust any legal system , certainly not the UK or US systems and the cognitive ability of Jurys in any technical case is questionable..It only takes me 10 minutes to buy back into GSK when its safe, that's the only certainty I have as a game plan..

not something i really wanted to do but have now sold another big chunk of shares with a small traunch left over for a rainy day .i have now a big war chest safe on the side lines waiting to see how she goes. being retired i don't have the time anymore to wait for mistakes and my **** ups in shares to recover over time , but this one really annoys me as its purely created by ambulance chasers, scum bags and leeches. gla .

Well I agree Conger but then again if its too good to be true it usually is ? .Im just going for hopefully a 50% SP growth with a decent dividend which should be obtainable with HMG support in theory . Oilers have done me well in the past now lets see if this Wind power lark can deliver or if its all just a lot of hot air if u forgive the pun.

I agree i have never ever seen buy backs improve any of the shares I have ever owned or made me any money Lloyds bank being a casing point .Its more too benefit directors of companies with meeting their targets and also to appear to the Wok press that all us millionaire share owners are not making money out the alleged hard working masses.. UKW will have a honeymoon period I hope in the next year to fly the flag for GB Green energy amd make Sir K Starmer KC look good.

Picked up a chuck of these shares before the election, I will watch carefully how she goes from now in view of Labours net zero obsession ..In theory she should start climbing now ???? but I am old and jaded enough to know logic and common sense have nothing to do with share performance, time will tell.

I think you will find GSK is very very unloved as a US class action by 70k free loaders does not help the SP ! . Good news however late Friday we paid one ambulance chasing person off so it will be interesting if the market pick up on that ?I like to think GSK are trying to sow some doubt re the other 70k in the class action and offering them some kind of payoff for the greater good although it does make my blood boil. I have sold 60% of my holding recently holding the remainder in the hope of back room deals and brown envelopes saves the day ?.Mind you when the UK NHS even goes for the rival US jabs recently it makes me wonder why I still have a small holding here ? Our Dame has done the worst job in GSK history if you ask me.

My biggest concern is having been a very happy Shell investor until HMG taxed the hell out of her ! Will UKW be taxed likewise down the road for daring to be a well run company making profits for its share holders ?
