Sagacity:
"The unity the EU demonstrated after Russia launched its offensive in Ukraine is starting to “crumble,” German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said on Sunday. I think it's fair to say that there was no unity between most EU members and Hungary and those others who are very dependant on Russian energy. So nothing has changed there.
My main concern stemming from the demise of Russia is their propensity for nationalisation when they find themselves in dire economic straits. I myself am in agreement with Blue that Russia has to be put back in its box otherwise its revanchist tendencies will continue.
It seems that the Economist agrees with you, Blue:
'Reward Mr Putin now, and the risk that other autocracies start launching similar invasions of weaker neighbours increases. Better therefore to help Ukraine, a sovereign country, to push back against the bully.'
The first reviewer writes:
Incredibly biased. Mr. Stone does a great job of manipulating facts and omitting key pieces of Ukrainian history to specifically appease the pro Russian narritive. He should have called this documentary "why my friend putin thinks ukraine is bad and should invade it".
So I'm a little sceptical...perhaps later though
You have no comment then and re the Ukrainian parliament voting to remove Yanukovych from office by 328 to 0 !!!
I am trying to produce a pastel drawing here and am already spending too much time on here, so I will have to read 'Ukraine on Fire' later..
That, Kodo, was as a result of widespread government corruption and abuse of power, the influence of oligarchs, police brutality, and violation of human rights - and Russia putting pressure on Ukraine to reject a political association and free trade agreement with the European Union. well well
'These facts may have come as a shock to some, but it is not surprising that the Russians are making some progress on the ground. And any Kremlin celebration would be misplaced: Russia is still losing and, perversely, some short-term successes actually leave Putin worse-off in the long run.'
Sure, that would be the case, but they haven't agreed to do that...so, maybe not so disgusting etc?

Many Russians who work in the arts and culture have spoken out against the war in Ukraine.
These include rappers Noize MC and Oxxxymiron, singer Sergey Lazarev, and rocker Yuri Shevchuk, the frontman of the band DDT, who has been charged with discrediting the Russian army for remarks he made at a concert on Wednesday.
During a concert in Ufa in Russia, he told the huge crowd that old people, women and children were dying “for some kind of Napoleonic plans of our latest Caesar, yes?”
He continued: “The motherland, my friends, is not the a** of a president that has to be slobbered and kissed all the time.”
Days later a video emerged of a concert in St Petersburg, Russia’s second largest city, where a huge crowd is heard chanting “f*** the war”.

I don't know a lot about politics, but you are very arrogant; this is a forum for views and questions.
No wonder I am shy about asking anything!
What happened to Germany after the war hasn't been the same experience elsewhere, so what do you think should be done?
Thank you for replying, Roxy. I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed here!
If the West is successful in dealing with Putin without being handicapped by a deal, Russia would have its wings clipped and would become much less of a threat to us and its neighbours. Then even if it did become the BFF of China, together they would be less of an overall threat...assuming Western manufacturing comes back to Western countries.
Just my thoughts.

I tend to agree with most of your posts re Eukraine
However, regarding poverty here in the UK, while I'm sure there will be increased sales in Pubs, Bookies and Takeaways, there will also be people out there who are struggling and the rebate is a kind of windfall for them which could make the difference by having more food a warmer home. PS I'm not a leftie lol
AJ, you also think he's 'an insane madman' !
I don't think he has...sweetheart!
I'm truly astounded that Russia has given up sooo much...one way and another...in order to flatten a potential asset, which they must know will be taken back by its owners fairly soon.
AJackson...again!
I think you've been over-indulging in Russkie propaganda!
Do you remember Lord Haw-haw, A Jackson...but, more importantly, do you remember what was done to him after WW2 ?
Think hard about what you are doing....!
