Ophidian - I am afraid that I have to agree, even the children can see what a balls up the politicians have made of this. If we in this country had not been completely blinded by the whole B-thing in the last 3 years we might have had a better understanding of what is going on regarding climate change in the rest of the world.

I have some choice things to say on the matter but perhaps will tone them down a bit for my second of 3 articles covering the Energy Storage Europe conference in Germany last week - that is when I can find time away from dealing with my european customers desperate to get me to despatch their orders before B-day.

2) Clear pump and dump on the share price
3) Twitter account removed

Also as someone who really cut their teeth on analysing the warrants pre-selling on BMN (and successfully predicting a number of warrant exercise events) I am naturally drawn to the RNS put out today. Does anyone else feel slightly perturbed by the fact that someone suddenly wishes to have shares and not options just before this report deadline - it makes one suspect that they may have already sold those shares and that they are perhaps aware that the report is not going to be arriving on time.

Rob - I've often wondered what fixings can be used on flat roofs that do not compromise the sealing integrity of the roof - also if the roof covering itself wears out is it possible to easily remove the solar panels whilst the reroofing is undertaken - thanks for the industry insight.

Jagadish - well that was only on the day he joined LSE so maybe it was a different huzzy then. Perhaps he has a lifecycle as short as the mayfly and will not be around for very much longer.

martyboy - unlikely as nitrovan is not going to be the component of choice for starting to make VRFB electrolyte from. As alluded to in the following article this is most likely to be modified Vanadium oxide (V2O3)

The problem swampdub is the interconnections between the individual components - the strains caused by thermal expansion and roof loading from wind/snow will inevitably cause breakdown of rigid soldered contacts. Flexible contacts would require ever tile to be connected with ever other tile via a cable and connector which would then be impossible to correct without having to get onto a stepladder and clambering up a roof. Press/sprung contacts will inevitably oxidise in that environment unless you gold plate every contact. It is a similar situation to that of the fabled solar roads or microwind turbine generating 'trees' - namely a solution that is trying to be different with no real added benefit.

Our problem is not the lack of an appropriate technology it is our lack of a political will to apply the technologies that we have right now. Suggesting that better technologies are just round the corner and then coming up with things that are much worse is actually a backwards step.

Improved thermal insulation in new builds could easily generate much more of a carbon saving than covering every single roof in PV panels - the energy used in space heating is equal to our current entire electrical energy demand.
