SoTRR - okay as long as we continue to be clear what we are talking about. The situation is perhaps clearer that in the situation of FerroVanadium where the FeV is sold with a price per Kg of the contained Vanadium - this allows different alloys of FeV - FeV30, FeV50, FeV80 to be roughly compared as it is only the V that they contain that you care about.
In the case of Tantalite it is pretty much always the same mass of Lithium (0.7Kg) that is contained in each Kg so there is little need to talk about "Price per Kg contained Tantalum" - and so we can talk simply about the cost of the ore, Tantalite, and simply multiply by 0.7 when we want to know how much Ta we are going to get when we get around to roasting, smelting or doing whatever it is that needs to be done to get the metal, or whatever form you want for your industry. The only confusion arises when people loosely talk about mining or selling Tantalum, when in fact they mean the ore Tantalite.
