That is just the initial part of the Sale and Purchase agreement (SPA) - it is the main part of the SPA (the rest) that was initially suggested 31st Dec (12 Nov 2019 RNS)

"It is intended that the Main SPA and other principal transaction documents will be signed on or before 31 December 2019, with completion to occur as soon as practical thereafter."

The 19th Dec RNS quotes:-

"As previously announced, the Consortium has been granted exclusivity until the end of February 2020 to complete due diligence and now expects to negotiate a subsequent main sale and purchase agreement to acquire the remaining issued share capital of Enerox for a further consideration of €10.85 million on a debt free basis within the same timeframe."

So ... the documents may indeed have been signed (on or before 31st Dec) with the official completion to occur any time between now and the end of Feb. (i.e. it is a bit like a house sale - exchange of contracts then separate completion date.)

As such the announcement that the contracts have been signed could come any day.

RK - it will be the fact that the US doesn't have any Vanadium mines of their own so they follow the oft-parroted line that 'Vanadium is rare' - the facts are that it is not, as you know it is more plentiful than Zinc, Chrome, Nickel and Copper.

The simple fact is that Vanadium flow batteries work and are here but have traditionally been held back by their intrinsic reliance on the price of Vanadium, which constitutes over 35% of the build costs. As we here have seen the price of this commodity is, ahem, somewhat volatile, which if you are relying on it to build your products, puts you in something of a difficult position.

Sooner or later whoever controls the Vanadium supply controls the VRFB supply chain. That point is now, and if you had not spotted, it is us.

Hamil23 - what is not appreciated is that just as high temperatures are bad for Lithium-ion batteries so are cold temperatures. Thus in cold conditions these thing need to actually electrically heat themselves to achieve 'optimum conditions'. Once the battery starts running for a bit the electrical current flowing in and out of the battery tends to produce enough parasitic warming that it doesn't need to spaff its stored energy on heat itself up. Then the problem is the battery getting too hot.

In a car the flow of (hopefully cool) air over the battery helps you in this regard. Not so if it is a stationary energy storage system - then you need to use electrical energy to aircondition the battery container thus reducing the electrical efficiency of the overall installation. This is why when you dig into the numbers that the Tesla stationary storage people quote you will discover that they only every quote their battery electrical efficiency at 20 deg C. If they took into consideration the real cooling requirements it would knock a good few percentage points off their quoted efficiencies.

Vauxhall Viva, - that is rather similar to the conclusion of this paper from about 2 years ago.

Furthermore according to the Tesla Powerwall 2 warranty ( https://www.tesla.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/powerwall/powerwall_2_ac_warranty_europe_1-5_english.pdf ) this would have run out after 10 years (if using your own PV charging) [63% of payback period] or after 37.8 MWh stored (if using other charging techniques) [60.7% of payback period].

The problem is that the battery may have died before it pays for itself, so unless you are someone who likes showing off useless expenditure it makes no sense.

A VRFB on the other hand, can last long enough to actually make it economically worthwhile, and should you wish to charge more than once a day can actually pay for itself in a shorter time than 10 years,

This might have something to do with it.

Lithium-ion battery systems greater than 1kWh should not be installed inside the habitable building envelope. Period.

KingShott - when you have seen what can happen with a small lithium-ion battery fire you would not be installing anything like a tesla battery inside your residence, no matter how pretty they make the thing look. Pretty is no good if you are dead.

So if we consider installing in outside type areas such as garages (less used for cars than they used to be when they would rust after 5 years), then perhaps the size is not such an issue. The average price for Buys today is 21.329p
for sells it is 20.819p

The average of these two is 21.07 - quite a bit higher (1.5%) than the 20.75p mid price that has been shown for most of the day

Now it is around 260,000 and the good new for the Market Makers is that they've managed to get a 30,000 sell after 3.5 hours of trading. Well done to them.

993444 - as you should know only too well Mosaic have 18 different production sites spread around the world, all with different costs of production, and most producing less than 3 Million tonnes per year. They are only mothballing the expensive sites so there is always an opportunity for a low cost producer of 3M tpa Phosphate. South Africa only produces 5 Million tpa of the stuff in total so there is probably plenty of local demand just there, let alone other parts of southern Africa, where of course Mosaic has zero production.
