numpty and Bryn59 - don't worry about the BBC being behind the curve. If they were ahead of it do you think that they'd still be working there ? Nope they'd likely be getting paid 10 times as much to work for a big city consultancy.
The simple fact is that Vanadium flow batteries work and are here but have traditionally been held back by their intrinsic reliance on the price of Vanadium, which constitutes over 35% of the build costs. As we here have seen the price of this commodity is, ahem, somewhat volatile, which if you are relying on it to build your products, puts you in something of a difficult position.
Sooner or later whoever controls the Vanadium supply controls the VRFB supply chain. That point is now, and if you had not spotted, it is us.
