magellanic cloud - in principle it is possible but it only really has a good chance of succeeding if the shorters can cut a deal with the MMs to use their short term selling power to drive the price back down to the point where leveraged spread bets may be hit with cash calls. Those holding these leveraged spread bets, having been stung a number of times already, can simply add more cash to their accounts to deleverage themselves and expose themselves less to the risk of opportunistic mugging like this. Not advice of course, just common sense.

As expected it appears that Vaneck had to hold back 1.2M shares that had been loaned to shorters. On friday the shorters appeared to close out and the 1.05M and 150K Vaneck share blocks were then immediately dropped into the market at 19p.

The Modus Operandi looks quite simple. Take Vaneck fundholders for mugs, short the shares they have just picked up. Wait until Vaneck is forced by its own volume rules to drop the company from the index. Hold onto the lent shares until you have got it as low as you like and then close out by cutting a deal with a friendly market maker who lets you close your shorts at pretty much the same price that Vaneck fundholders will get.

Games like this have zero reflection on the genuine progress that the company has made and is making to corner the VRFB energy storage market.

I make that now an excess of of over 830,000 more Buys than Sells today. Perhaps the remaining 1.2M Vaneck will disappear as a result of this, or perhaps not.

If not then it is likely that this block is still lent to shorters and they are maybe going to suffer by missing the bottom.
