W7L – Strong Close After Heavy Volume (29 Oct)
W7L closed today +2.84 % at 217 p (UT trade 3,018 shrs) after trading between 207 p – 220 p.
Total volume ≈ 3.40 million shares vs. avg 525 k, one of the busiest sessions since the profit-warning period.
Average spread ≈ 5 p (2.3 %), 52 W range 195 p – 570 p.
Two major on-book prints (~1.4 m + 1.45 m) went through mid-afternoon without depressing the price — in fact, W7L closed higher, suggesting institutional accumulation or cross-matching rather than selling.
Feed shows more “sells/unknowns”, but tape action tells the opposite story — firm bid, strong close, and heavy demand absorbing all supply.
With a debt-free balance sheet, solid cash, and 4 p dividend (ex-div 6 Nov, pay 21 Nov) plus upcoming UK import-duty changes favouring compliant domestic brands, the risk/reward looks increasingly attractive.
If today’s huge turnover cleared the overhang, 215 p could easily prove the new base, with 230-250 p the next test zone as November catalysts approach.
DYOR, but today looked very much like smart money stepping in.
