I wouldn't give a bucket of p**s for Russia's or China's long term prospects. The problem is how aggressive are they going to be when it all starts to unwind. I think we've already got the answer to that from Russia. Putin isn't smart enough to grow his economy into a modern state so he decided to start a war in some vain attempt to make Russia more powerful. The sooner he's dead and gone the better for everyone. There was never any point in a Putin Zelensky meeting anyway. Putin isn’t going to change his mind and Zelensky only agreed to keep Trump happy. Fact of the matter is Trump hasn’t got a clue what’s he doing. Someone needs to tell him Putin ain’t his friend, never has been and never will be.

After 2 years they still haven't taken Chasiv Yar. Which is less than 10 miles past Bakhmut. Which is why Putin is trying to trick Trump into forcing the Ukrainians into giving up the rest of Donetsk. If they can't take Chasiv Yar or pokrovst they have no chance of ever taking larger towns/cities like Sloviansk, Kramatorsk or Druzhkivka. Fortress towns, which if handed over would open up the rest of Ukriane to the Russian scum.

I think maybe the West/American need to come to terms with the fact the president of the United States has been compromised by the Russians.

That said I think there’s a lot more going on in Russia than meets the eye. More rumours of a coupe, more prominent Russians falling out of windows, more Russian soldiers deserting, the price of oil is down and falling into 2026, Putin cutting soldiers salaries, reserves running low, old tanks/APCs have run out, etc etc.

Putin only came to the table for one reason. The long term outlook isn’t looking good for him. But he wants to end things on his terms. Trumps the gullible moron to facilitate that for him.

Absolutely ridiculous. 32 counties in NATO, including the USA, which is supposedly the most powerful country in the world and they’re saying we just got permission of Putin to give Ukraine a security guarantee. What was we going to do if Putin said no? Sorry Ukraine, Putin said we can’t give you a security guarantee so he can now invade when he wants to. This US administration under Trump is incompetent beyond believe.

As if you ask the aggressor if you can give the victim a security guarantee. If you have to ask him first it’s not much of a guarantee against aggression is it?

This peace deal isn’t going anywhere. Putin is saying he wants all the Donbas in exchange for the land he has Sumy and Kharkiv regions. He hardly has any land in Sumy and Kharkiv. Trump and Witkoff are that thick they probably don’t even know where this is on the map. As predicted Putin making demands Zelensky can not agree to in the hope Trump will abandon him.

I can’t see Zelensky ever going to Moscow. His plane would likely drop out the sky. Putins offer of freezing the conflict where it is in exchange for the Donbas isn’t very attractive. Zelensky is likely to tell him where to ram it.
