with apologies for reposting this objective researchand comment from yesterday. it got quickly and deliberately buried and sidetracked by a flurry from one particular poster.
pretty good market reaction today on our news and likewise pro coverage. sp angel considers that this supports our growing confidence in the future, especially as for the first time ever, we have sufficient cash resources to utilise. although they disagree with the principle of share buybacks per se, they acknowledge that's a luxury problem for us to have and reckon that supply side imbalances in the oil market will lead to aggressive appreciation in the oil price over coming months (nb.bonny light finished at $81.30) cantors, though, reckon that the share buyback will be well received, see the company on a solid footing and are positive on our news, acknowledging that much work lies ahead getting OML18 into proper shape. brandon hill seem very positive on the barryroe news as well as on news coming through on our nigerian interest.
perhaps the most important takeaway here is that we can see that 3 important small cap brokers are following the exciting, if belated, developments at San Leon with great (read: bullish) interest. fresh buyers and improved liquidity should likely (read: finally!) follow as production continues to improve, capital return(s) are permissioned and a simpler, more substantial corporate structure is agreed.....

yep Tim - can't get my head round whether it's Sis7 or Honest Sis. either way the anger levels, not to mention serial defamations and implicitly racial distinction (the Irish?) possibly suggest a more in'sid'ious tenor and, boy, hasn't he/ she shown his/her true colours now! anyway back to the main story today - can anyone tell me anywhere it is said that SLE won't be paying dividends?

roger all that, SJ, and sounds like we should be getting steady positive newsflow from now on. (ps. B7 hasn't posted since i exposed the fact (by his own admission) that he hadn't held stock here in nearly 4 years. San Leon has been the target of concerted troll attacks over time on this and other boards, many of which are clearly illegal and defamatory, predicting that San Leon was to have been bust by now etc. September has not been a good month for them and they
have gone much quieter: it doesn't look like the future is going to get any brighter for them either)

yep agree, this is just another great squirrel war & peace yawn of sour grapes of past performance. and all irrelevant to the investment case of the here and now, which we note doesn't get mentioned. my mo, if i think a stock stinks, is to go. pretty sure martin hughes' is the same. we're all still here along with mark denning of capital, which kinda tells you all you need to know.

no exuberance BS just clinical analysis. unlike some who appear to treat this board as a kind of group therapy for investment depression, i try and keep emotions under control and consider the only decisions i can influence as at today ie. to hold, to buy more or to sell. so maybe a good idea for starters if folk re-read Zac Phillips' excellent and very conservative analysis from 2 years ago: https://*************.com/partners/SLEZac.pdf
what's changed since he wrote this report? our SP was 46p and we hadn't seen confirmed evidence of payment on our loan notes. true Avobone hadn't been resolved and clear that the expected programme for developing OML18 is now in delay. but essentially the story Zac Phillips was looking at in 2016 remains intact if not now considerably improved - the oil price then was just over $46 (before OPEC came out with their historic announcement) and Barryroe hadn't been farmed out with a multi-well drilling programme. (nb.his valuations do not include anything for services).

i know they've always rated Albania but wouldn't do it without a farm in. there's no hurry now anyway as our cash continues to flow in. btw. don't ever see OF backing out of Nigeria!!

wow you guys are something, we get great news on barryroe and you get depressed? the point i was attempting to make was heh look at the value left in this stock! clearly our loan notes and near 10% interest in OML18 are worth today many 100s of $m, so add barryroe and maybe Albania, look at our market cap and do the maths for chrissake. if you're not a forward-looking value investor, you just shouldn't be in this stock.

(as if). nor should you be. we get judged simply by what we post, don't we, so when you say i have declined to answer your (personal) question i suppose i feel a) entitled to say mind your own business and b) to point out that you have still not addressed my relatively straightforward factual question concerning Sun Trust's not inconsiderable shareholding in San Leon. and that's kind of where this started before you got kind of personal. so, as i say, don't take it personally f.

ha ha frus, i generally don't go in for this ad hominem stuff (look it up but essentially it is a distraction technique used by people who don't want or are intellectually unable to engage in logical discussion) but here's the thing: i know just how obsessed you are with what i do (this is not the first time you've brought the subject up), so as a one-off i will tell you, on condition that you finally now offer up a reasoned and plausible history on how Sun Trust came into possession of $50m worth of San Leon stock? we have a deal? (by definition though you have to go first)

it's a 4.5% net profit interest so we have no cost exposure on drilling, unlike eg. LOGP who, from recollection, have a 10% interest in Barryroe following the farm out to the Chinese but have to meet their corner on opex. (QF holds this so will no doubt correct me if i have wrong). the €42.6m valuation is on basis as farmed in ie if we sold our npi now that is a minimum expected figure. if drilled successfully as is reasonable expectation on all the evidence, we would expect our npi to deliver many 100s of €m over time. in the past OF always intimated that they would sell at the right moment. think if you go back to SPAngel detailed review and valuation of San Leon post Nigeria deal, using their figures would mean effectively our SP currently values OML18 and loan notes all but at zero!

you've got barryroe well covered! well done. see LOGP was up nearly 20% this morning on a sub £10m market cap and very much still worth buying imho. do you remember what value we (SLE) put on our barryroe interest, just on a farmed- in basis?

good spot QF and good news indeed. i see PVR are up about 10% already this morning. one imagines with drilling set for q2 next year, that we will wait for this before any consideration is given to selling our interest. it's not as if we need the cash now.

you're right about one thing , frus, you couldn't possibly say who's right here. but i see you've now been joined by one of this board's other renowned legal specialists from the barrack room, CJ, so maybe two heads are better than one? but on reflection i doubt that. btw. i did not say there is no case to answer, although suspect that is the case. what i was hoping to hear from you following your recent researches, was whether Sun Trust woke up on Xmas morning and found Santa half way down the chimney with a gift-wrapped share transfer for 85m SLE shares or if there was a more plausible explanation?
