A young co-worker of my partner’s lives with his elderly grandmother and so was concerned when he developed Covid like symptoms. He called 111, and explained his living arrangements. He was told to self isolate and take lateral flow tests for a week. Interestingly though, he was advised that if he tested positive, not to confirm with a PCR test. This seems to be an under the radar change in Gov. policy suggesting that the phasing out of PCR is not limited to international travel. Anyone else experienced similar?

You won’t see anything in the mainstream media about a highly accurate lateral flow test option. It doesn’t fit with the narrative in which the only way out of this is to be vaccinated forever and a day.
Sajid Javid thinking of making vaccination mandatory for NHS staff “to prevent people from contracting Covid in hospitals”. They are all still behaving as though vaccinated = non-contagious - which is patently untrue. The way to stop Covid from entering hospitals or any other indoor space is accurate antigen testing. We are all still here hoping for an outbreak of common sense in Gov policy.

Saliva samples from 15 different individuals will be spiked with SARS-CoV-2 virus stock (7.8x106 plaque forming units(pfu)/mL VIC/1/2020) and serially diluted in the same saliva sample to give dilutions of 105, 104, 103 and 102 pfu/mL. Samples may be frozen at this stage.

I presume they mean humans this time?

Also, I don’t understand why saliva is OK as an evaluation medium for Porton Down but wasn’t considered OK for self use in case of contamination (burgergate). Can anyone explain?
