I totally agree that Affimers are a direct link to Avacta. All I am trying to point out is that the Govt has given a list of reagents that they believe will identify Covid. Affimers are just one item on the list. Believe me, I would love us to get this order, but the timescales just don’t look likely.

Yes but my point is that inclusion of ‘Affimers’ merely indicates that the Govt is aware that they can be used in lateral flow devices - along with all the other reagents mentioned. It’s not a leak and it’s not a ‘slam dunk’ for Avacta

How can you say that there are no competitors? There are at least 6 companies already producing rapid result antigen lateral flow devices. Use of the word Affimer is not a leak, it’s part of a list of reagents used in lfds. Calm down!

Well the Govt have known about Affimers since last summer. Obviously they would have to include them in a description of a lateral flow device - alongside all the other potential diagnostic reagents. This is not a ‘sudden’ inclusion.

Telegraph yesterday reported that tests were being done at £350 a go in Harley St and other private clinics. Maybe we could produce some gold plated ones to capture that market?

The deterioration in the quality of this board has been largely down to lack of news in the face of fake and premature news on the vaccine front. We have been under the impression that progress was being made, but that an NDA prevented news either from or about the company. Apparently not true. In the face of rampant speculation - whether too positive or too negative in nature, PL75 has always been a voice of reason, keeping us focussed on the known facts. There is great merit in that and I have found it valuable.

Of course, I would also welcome the return of other balanced and influential posters - anything to mitigate the blatant fear-mongering that we witnessed this morning.
