Doesn’t sound as though Avacta was planning a flu test at this stage - although on the upside it sounds ‘straightforward’.

Slightly off topic, but isn’t it mind- boggling that we argue over our budgeted £71 mn.foreign aid budget for China (a country planning its own moon landing) whilst in the background we don’t bat an eyelid at awarding a Chinese company a £138 million contract to supply one month’s worth of lateral flow devices with the potential to award a further £912 million up to March? We need the sovereign test!

The provenance of Innova gets murkier and murkier. We know they are Chinese, the media seem to think they are US based and the bidstats contract award document states that they are based in Monrovia!

Totally agree that mention of Affimers means that the Gov is aware of Avacta’s potential- as has been the case for some time.
Also agree that when AS says
“ A highly scalable test device using readily available components and routine manufacturing processes has now been shown to have a sensitivity for coronavirus spike protein in laboratory samples better than 300 pg/ml which is in the range expected for spike protein in clinical samples.”
It would be wonderful if that meant that 500 devices had been produced and put through the futility test stage 2 of the process required. If that were the case, we would still need to produce 4,000 sample devices for assessment by Poron Down before the Gov could buy from us.

Believe me, I would love it if we could pull it off.
