Indeed, perhaps the arch disrupter Dominic Cummings will spill the beans on that one next week. I guess it depends on how seriously he takes his commitment to the official secrets act.

Agree Rocquet, the problem, however, is that if the general population understands how accurate our test is, would they still be as willing to have the vaccine? There would be a clamour the replace vaccine passports with ‘release test’ passports, and people would be unwilling to pay the hugely inflated PCR test costs on return from holidays. Better for the gov if the sovereign test stays under wraps for as long as possible.

Once you subscribe to the theory that the Gov is totally blinkered in its ambition to get as many people as possible vaccinated, everything falls into place. The discovery of the Indian variant has been very useful in driving up vaccine acceptance in previously sceptical pockets of the population, so new variants have proved their worth. Why then would we switch to a form of testing that may detect them but doesn’t identify them? Did you hear how proud Han**** sounded at the press conference the other day about how GB was leading the world in identifying variants? PCR-bashing in the press has suddenly stopped.

When it comes to transparency, perhaps they could shed a light on how much GPS are making out of the vaccination drive (while not seeing patients for anything else). GP online states that they are getting £12.58 per jab administered with a supplement of £30 per jab if delivered in a care home setting. What is that? Danger money? I guess it’s OK when you are just printing as much as you need.

The Gov is playing mind games with us all. I truly believe that they are deliberately holding back on the sovereign test to convince as many as possible to take the jab. Vaccine sceptics simply can’t be given any alternative way out until the van route has been exhausted.

This article from the DT about how heavily the Gov is relying on behavioural psychology convinces me all the more.

Well that’s good to hear. Surely the only thing that matters as you proceed through all the various spaces of an airport and into the confined space of your flight is “have they weeded out everyone who is infectious?” I find Al Smith just so much more convincing than any of these Gov scientists.
I am fascinated by the idea of Dominic Cummings spilling the beans next week about why we are still waiting. Is Porton Down not the centre of scientific excellence that we have been led to believe? Sorry, too much lockdown makes conspiracy theorists out of more of us each day.

It’s patently obvious that they don’t really want us to travel right now, and if we do, they want to track the variants so there’s no escaping an expensive PCR test. Gov wants U.K. to be a leader in diagnostics. Well at the moment they are getting the kudos of variant testing. I’m losing faith that a sovereign antigen test will ever be announced.

Anyone else downloaded theirs to discover that it’s only valid until 20 June 2021?
