Just lining up my ammo to contact Paul Waugh at Huff post. Decided to go through Bidstats and see exactly how much has been awarded to Innova (AKA Xiamen Biotime Biotechnology Co. Ltd). Discovered that in the 6 months from October 2020 until March 2021, we spent £4,110,000,000 on lateral flow tests from them. Not only that though, we spent £230,554,000 on a company called Air Charter Services to bring them into the country. As far as I can see, British Airways received only 90k back in October to bring in a load. So much for supporting our national carrier!
I have been looking to see whether Chris Leach, MD of ACS might have been at Eton or Oxford but so far I can't find a connection. I wonder who flew BoJo and Carrie out to Mustique on that controversial holiday!

Totally agree it’s impractical. Just don’t understand why there isn’t a journalistic outcry about our buying Chinese tests and analysis of all the other home-grown options. If I were the editor of a U.K. newspaper, I would be onto it. Ffs we all know about it and you can’t tell me there are no journalists out there who aren’t invested in Avacta!

Big news on BBC Radio 4 today programme this morning = sniffer dogs detect 94/100 cases of Covid even at low viral loads - which they claimed was “better than lateral flow tests.” BBC presenter promptly got very exercised about the fact that “we always seem to hear about better solutions but nothing ever happens”. Perhaps with a bit more thorough investigative journalism, they would find the answer to accurate testing sitting waiting to go in Wetherby and could quiz Matt Han**** about it at Covid briefings!

Small shareholders in a British lithium company are mobilising a grassroots campaign to block a takeover by a Chinese mining giant.

More than 300 retail investors in Aim-listed Bacanora are calling on institutional investors to side with them, while urging the Government to back their efforts. The investors, which claim to control more than 5pc of Bacanora, have described the offer as “derisory”.

Bacanora has received a £190m bid from its largest shareholder, China’s Ganfeng Lithium, one of the world’s largest producers of the material. ­Ganfeng has a 17.5pc stake in Bacanora, which it plans to increase to 30pc.

Substitute lithium for palladium, China for Russia and - well, you get my drift.
