It's been a great week for me, and not a bad one for this share, either.
I've reiterated several times that the agreement of an exploitation licence should point to some interesting assurances that must have been given to the government about project and funding viability. But it's not going to lead to an imminent TO and the share price is going to stay largely poor for the foreseeable. So the frothy rampers were as wrong on Monday as they have been for months. If you want to re-frame your Monday enthusiasm as cool-guy nonchalance, and claim you weren't expecting the markets to be interested in this, be my guest π
"good try"? I don't get that. The price is flat (down over 5 days) despite the rampers working hard. And I know why. So I'd say that might deserve an apology, but I don't expect you to be big enough to provide one, and I certainly don't need one β€οΈ
On Monday morning, when you were all frothing over a largely inconsequential formality, the share price was bobbing between 16.5-17p. You said this was significant, and made several breathlessly excited posts before open. Now we've had news of the exploitation licence, too, and the share price is....
Wait for it...
You know the answer.
Honestly, I'm generous with my time. If you want me to explain how I could be so confident that this wouldn't move the needle much, I will. Just stop typing and listen to people who read more than you π
Nice copy/paste again, pad
Tell me, how much is their holding in solg worth? Is it about Β£50m? And lundin? Is that one over $900m? I think if they are looking to monetize, they'll sell the lucrative shares in the gold mine first, then their small stake in an explorer later.
Investors here will be hoping they don't sell any in the market, and that they manage to negotiate better terms with Jiangxi than our board has, otherwise confidence will remain as low as the SP denotes. Obviously they won't go to BHP if they do sell.
Pad, I think you've beautifully exemplified what we bring to the board. I've suggested some reading you might do to better understand solg, you've tried to make a funny. Best of luck with your strategy π
Add, I think we're similar in that we both only make definitive statements about things we understand π
Just do some reading folks. Aris, last week: classic example. If you read what the CARC's objections had been to previous proposals, you'd have clocked that it would be a tight turnaround to approval. Low and behold, 1 week later, 9% rise on news from Marmato. Same level of analysis of solg says this presentation Thursday is the wash out I predicted. But add says it is 'significant' (even though he doesn't make definitive statements). We'll see who is right π
Any update, add? Anything you've said come to fruition?
And I have just read Pad's homage to me (very cute). What research would you like me to do for you, pad? Are you interested in how Franco calculated it's ceiling for Cobre? Do you want to know which amendment to Ecuador's ministerial code lead to Lasso's decision being inevitable? Would you like me to invest any money for you?
If I cared about people clicking recommend I'd just point to the errors in Red's ramping- that always gets a good reaction, but it feels a bit like kicking an old, sick, deluded dog.
Who is the teacher in your little skit there, add? As far as I can see this comes down to you and me. I want to talk solg from a realistic standpoint, you evade any scrutiny by deflection. Have you come up with any way in which I've been wrong about solg? Can you point to a post in your enormous back catalog where you've said something about solg that was insightful and then proven to be correct? Anything at all? I'll wait π
Let's take Pad's heavily recommended article below (look at all those thumbs π). People with a news feed set up will have received the same thing and ignored it, as there's nothing new in it. It's of zero interest to a knowledgeable investor. Instead it gets pasted here (no disrespect to Pad: he's just following what everyone else on this board does) and it gets up ticked by people who, I'd argue, aren't doing sufficient quality research themselves. Or they like repetition, like a toddler likes repetition. But wouldn't it be great if this board actually discussed some new ideas, like someone using examples of other royalty deals from franco to outline how solg might finance the staged mine plan they've talked of recently?
No- that gets shot down by luddites who haven't done much reading and think they understand mineral financing because they once worked in an office. If you always do what you've always done, you'll always have what you've always had and this board will remain meh.
Your fixation with my year of birth is weird (it was feb 1981, if you're that interested?) and jealousy is a weak emotion. I'm sorry that I've been right about solg, really I am- the daydreamer in me wishes your cries of 'hope so' and 'this is significant' were true, but the intelligent part of my brain tells me to trust the research and stick to my investment plan. As I've said before, if you want any advice you just need to ask. Don't gamble on hope and do read some more π
Are you going to come out and say you're jealous of my 'youth', add, or will you just keep trying to patronize?
I have never manipulated the market. I satirised the ridiculous nonsense some on here write, and the SP moved, but any connection between the two is made by you. The people I have bought stock for are generally happy as they all know what I know- investing is a younger man's game and you sometimes need a few years to make a decent profit, as will be true here.
Listen, I think you're a bit deranged but I don't wish you any harm, and I'm not sure you should spend so much time thinking about me. Let's agree that I've been correct in cautioning against undue excitement here, and leave it at that. I'll still call you and others out when you get giddy over nothing, but it isn't personal β€οΈ
I might suggest you weren't running the business very well if you were flat out? π€·ββοΈ
As you say, lots of people enjoyed my story and the SP did swing over 10% on small volume. make of that what you will. As for people I provide investment advice to, and buy on behalf of? They've made better choices than you, it would seem. I won't offer you any investment advice, I will simply point out that I've not been wrong about solg at any point. Yesterday you said that the term renewal on one of our concessions was significant. I contested it wasn't, and the markets have once again been so kind as to prove me right and you wrong.
Benefits of being a 42 year old with other people to do the hard work? I can read extensively about mining. Solg isn't my only investment, but it's the only one with an LSE board full of rampy morons who need their wings clipping. I don't think you've read a fraction of what I have about LatAm mine development, about Ecuadorian constitutional affairs, about funding... If you had, you'd realise I don't hit and hope. I read and invest. I said no TO before the '23 AGM and was told I had no clue. Months later a lot of those detractors are getting nervous as it becomes very clear I understood the path walked by solg better than them. If you want me to tell you what I think actually happens next, you can ask me for investment advice π
9 jobs dispatched onto today, and I'm still typing... That's good business π
The new term on the concession is still conditional, Quady. We still have fixed time limits for exploration and exploitation. That's why this is a non event. I thought you of all people would have read the various amended ministerial agreements from the last few years?
I don't think anyone is saying it's bad news, add? Just not exciting news. As I say, if they can follow it up with some big news it'll be important. Otherwise it's basic procedural stuff. That's not denigrating, it's contextualizing. Big difference π
I think lots of people are right, add, if this name calling is aimed at me? I don't actually do much construction, but I like the nickname π
Can you name something I've been wrong about with regards to solg? I'll wait π€·ββοΈ
Of course they won't.
'bodes well'
'significant news'
'youβd struggle to see that as anything other than positive'
If it were once or twice, you'd write this off as enthusiasm among investors. But it's so reliable and so frequent, every single week, that you start to question the authenticity of their messages.
Today they have tried to nudge people towards buys through FOMO. Other days it is blatant mistruths. But it's not normal for a small company, and it's deeply suspicious.
