We do use aluminum in cables. Particularly when they carry voltage higher than mains voltage. They do not catch fire.

As I said, and will repeat, if the current is high (like with 350kW EV charging using 800v at HIGH current) then we then to use copper at the moment.

Sorry Quady, I know I'm being a pedantic tool but we literally only use aluminum when the voltage is high. If the current is high we might need copper or something more highly conductive, but overhead power lines, where step-up transformers mean the voltage is unrecognizably high (in order to keep current and this heat loss to a minimum low) use aluminum to keep weight down.

Natural sciences (paid for by the army 👍) have left me unable to let scientific inaccuracies go... Again, sorry to be a pedant! At least this is solg related, I suppose!

Did anyone say it was a good article, Quady? The last think any of us want is a reduction in copper demand, but the reality is that it's an environmentally unpopular resource to acquire from ore. It's no surprise those searching for lighter touch energy solutions are also looking to limit our need for fresh extraction. Smelting ain't pretty, but clearly we don't care for the time being.

Is it this one about the risk to the copper market from substitution and thrifting? Anyone invested here already knows this, and anyone who can use the internet has already read this, but the parrots like a re-post 👍

Ground temp would have been higher but this just further proves how stupid what you said was. Just admit that you didn't think Sicily might have multiple weather stations, and that you ended up being wrong, and you can move on. Tail between your legs, and next to the thermometer you appear to like to use there?

You said that the ESA has forecast temperatures of 48C in Sicily. In an effort to show this was scaremongering and part of a conspiracy, you found a website showing it has been 35 in Sicily. You came here and posted that link and appeared triumphant. I realised what you done, and that you'd probably been mislead by others who can't think in your GB News telegram group. I looked on the same website for a hotter bit of Sicily, and hey presto, 46.5C. Well within tolerance of what was forecast. You were embarrassed and tried to change the subject. And you've never admitted you were wrong and the ESA were right.

Scientists agree because the evidence matches the theory. If it ever doesn't, the theory gets changed, and gets tested again. Unlike conspiracy theories, where the theory often changes to get further from the truth.
