PPP - Oil & Gas Production14 Jun 2026 07:55
Morning guys, I hope you are enjoying your weekends!
I've had a read of the BBC and as per usual there is a lot of nonsense being spoken of but I do pay attention to some of the Oil production chats.
Again, I'm not getting over excited yet until I see the RNS that we have started oil well workovers and new drills, plus seen the prospectus (hopefully they won't dilute too heavily!)
The one thing that peaks my interest is they've known about these other assets for a while, I think Osage county and Alberta are very good prospects in the long run. I think they are going for two proven wells and using new technology they should be able to stimulate more oil production imo.
I don't know but if they are quoting 400 bopd, I think they will be looking at more like 600/700 bopd. I think they would understand estimate at this stage. Either way even 250 bopd would be excellent. I think with PPP it's not necessary to have to just one well flowing loads, they can hit multiple wells and if each one can product 50-100 bopd along side our two bigger producing wells, it soon will wrack up bopd - $ in the bank!
I hope for all of us that Osage county is the diamond in the rough and remember Texas is not off limits, nobody can stop us drilling there if we so wish wanted to purchase a licence etc. it may not be the original wells but that's fine and I'm sure Mavriky would still look at other Texas assets as well as other American assets.
A bit on Alberta below -
Alberta has many mature wells. Typical production rates vary greatly:
Well Type
Typical Production
Older conventional well
5–20 BOPD
Average active conventional well
~15–20 BOPD
Good new conventional horizontal well
100–500+ BOPD initially
Top Montney/Cardium wells
500–1,500+ BOPD initially
SAGD oil sands well pair
Hundreds to thousands of BOPD
The Alberta Energy Regulator notes that productivity has improved significantly, with operators focusing on fewer but much more productive wells.
Alberta Energy Regulator.
For context, Alberta produces over 4 million barrels per day province-wide, but most of that comes from large oil sands operations rather than conventional wells.
In places like Osage County, it's worth noting that a 20–30 BOPD conventional well is often considered respectable, while a 100+ BOPD conventional well is generally viewed as very strong.
So imo opinion PPP could acquire old wells (multiples) and still be successful with modern techniques and still hundreds and even a thousand bopd wouldn't be a mile off if they can invest money at it and get moving.
Once the production money rolls in, it would not take long to make any invested money back imo.
