As thing start kicking into action, with doubtless quite a lot of operational updates published, it seems likely that the SP will become slightly volatil. Maybe not by large amounts, but driven by traders 'selling on the news' and similar. So a great opportunity for the intraday people. And of course the brokers, who make money of every transaction, no matter its up or down direction.

This is a standard requirement for insurance and other reasons. .Following her movements once she's in the field should confirm or disprove this. At the risk of contradicting various rumours floating around here, my opinion is still that it's exceedingly unlikely that she's going to install the exmas trees in advance of the rig's arrival. Such a move would be a very considerable change in the engineering planning (for which there's no need as the rig work is still easily within the timeframe 'window' despite the delay on Shaw), and would certainly be subject to OAG / DECC permitting approval, for which there's no evidence at present.

Now that things seem to be firming up, there will certainly be some people who don't want to miss the bus. Rigmove in itself frequently puts a nice glow on the SP, and of course that's just the start. News should start coming thick and fast from a couple of weeks onward, and then there's the AGM, as well. I don't think many paople will be heeding the old saw about May and St Leger's day in respect to Hurricane!

Even if it makes one hurried and flustered, liable to put on mismatching socks and choose the wrong tie to go with one's shirt. Mistakes I luckily avoided, though, and dinner was great. It's asparagus season! Conversation was mainly about the price of oil, whether Donald Trump was born stupid or just acts like that, and whether one should call a raise when holding ace-ten suited. Romantic stuff like that. Oh, the wine was good, as well.

It's a matter of belief-systems. And I have utterly no reasons, technically, to believe that the EPS will not perform as per expectations once installed, nor to disbelieve the BoD's forward planning regarding 'monetisation'. Because I think they are honest men, and would not commit to paper some sort of a deliberate lie. But I'm not a twit, either, running this race blindfold. The EPS 'system' as a whole has yet to be installed. Which means safe shipping of all sorts of stuff a quarter of the way round the globe through potentially dangerous seas, and also lots of potentially hazardous work to be done in some of the most treacherous seas on the planet. So yes, in such respects, this remains a high-risk investment. But who dares, wins. What I don't understand is your constant negativism on this BB. It's almost as though you'd like to see Hurricane's project fail.

gary38, Do you have any proof of this? That CA has been making more big sells today? No sweat, it means someone else has been buying them. SP hasn't moved. Glad to see that someone's recognised RB as a 'trader' who prefers to consider himself as a 'fund manager'. I like playing poker with other peoples' money, as well, but rarely get the chance.

The 'way forward' seems quite clear to me, as stated by the company in presentations both written and audio. 'Further Ahead' (subtitled 'portfolio next steps') is 'Development/Monetisation'. It's the second word which is important. 'Monetisation'. Making money out of the thing, after having spent lots of it (ongoing). And that, I believe (opinion only) is what these people are after, and what we contributors to this BB are looking for as well. The oil's just the means to an end. Heck. The FPSO hasn't yet left Dubai to get on station over Lancaster, yet some people are trying to calculate a potential profit based on hypothetical ideas assuming all that goes OK. I'd submit that such thinking is absurd. Or if not, they should be working for the planning dept of BP or another such company.

From what I've read, the two plays are analagous to each other, hence the interest. However, although the Norwegians are beginning to latch onto the idea that they shouldn't necessarily stop drilling when they hit so-called 'basement' , the lithological profile is somewhat dissimilar to that WoS and the GLA. So not exactly 'analagous', but with one common factor: there's commercial oil!
