Genghis, A couple of days ago I'd said to myself I'd take some 'time out' from here unless it was new shipwatching stuff or etc. But like many good intentions it didn't work. My totally absurd RB / JC comment was just me chucking a heavy rock into the deep end of the pond for the satisfying splosh and noise. And just to see if anything else resulted. Pure mischief and hooliganism. Didn't mean anything.

I'm sipping my cocoa before going to bed, at an absurdly early hour for me. But a very odd and uninvited thought has just occured to me out of the blue.

I wonder whether Mr Jeremy Corbyn has ever heard of a certain Mr Richard Bernstein? And if so, what does he feel about the latter man's company being (still) a major shareholder in a company which has discovered an oilfield which could be a major 'strategic petroleum resource' for the UK in the future?

Maybe I'll bang out an email tomorrow, just to try and find out. See what happens.

Let's face it, the SP has gone down by about 20% over the last few weeks for no apparent reason. Of course for log or middterm holders, this matters not a fig. But it's curious.

Some people are cat-like and curious, so are trying to find out an explanation. Because it might be having an effect on the mouse population. And that it's not that the cats have any philanthropic feelings for the mice (or mousanthropic, if that word exists), it's just that that's what they like chasing around and eventually eating.

Of course 'curiousity killed the cat'. But they've got many lives, so sometimes really DON'T CARE what trouble they might be getting themselves into...

The structural work thing was to my mind a complete red herring planted by a consistent (possibly professional) 'deramper', so should be ignored in my opinion.

However, I don't want to appear as some sort of 'ramper' wearing rose-tinted spectacles and suggesting everyone else wears similar lenses.

We know the lifeboats were test- launched port side quite a few days ago. Fine. That's easy. Push the trigger, the boat goes down the ramp and into the water. But what if one of the boats was damaged during the test? (Unlikely, those things aren't built by Renault.) Or what if the launch-ramp wouldn't accept it being fitted back in? (Equally unlikely in my opinion.)

The thing being, WE SIMPLY DON'T KNOW the details of what's happening at DDW.

There's only one thing which we know for absolutely 100% certain. That being the company has set the 'window' for FPSO 'sailaway' for Q3, and it's five weeks until Q3 ends. So there is nothing which can be classified as a 'delay'.

If the boat hasn't sailed from Dubai by the end of August, a lot of people will want to know why, and with very good and justifiable reason. Until then, though, there's no reason to worry. At least not that I can see, personally.

Which is of course your prerogative, with no 'blame' attached. I suspect 'risk aversion' is a trait which applies to the vast majority of people. Even if they take measurable risks every day of their lives, like when crossing the road. Or how about people who cross the road while looking at their mobile phones? They're taking a massive risk, but are seemingly oblivious to that fact.

People who cross the road looking at their phones are dummies, and deserve to get run over. My sympathies are with the poor drivers who can't escape such a collision. But you're obviously not a dummy. Posting a link to what was one of the most over-hyped oil discoveries in recent years proves that.

But I am puzzled about something. To my mind, people who are risk averse should avoid investing in O&G shares (especially AIM listed) like the plague. So what is your own motivation for even posting here? To my mind ambulance-chasing accident claims lawyers are not in the business of trying to prevent accidents.

Being a Good Samaritan is all very fine and dandy: very laudable. But always make sure that the bloke lying in the ditsh actually has been beaten up and is hurt: he might just have laid down for an afternoon kip instead. But equally if you're the person taking a nap, remain aware that a Samaritan may cross the road to check on you. And rather than Good, he may have picking your pockets in mind...

I take that to mean 'anytime after (though maybe including) September'. Not 'the vessel will be on station in September'.

Just like it says on the can (the corporate presentation) in other words. It won't be on station next month, that we know. But that doesn't mean there has been any delay.

If the AM hasn't sailed in five-and-a-half weeks' time, I think people will have good reason to be concerned, and justifiably expect some sort of RNS in that regard. But absolutely no flap now. Things are on track.

No mention whatsoever about any unexpected additional internal structural work being done to the FPSO, by the way. And even if that might have been the case, it will have been a long time ago, and has been done. The thing's being readied for sea-trials, as evidenced by the lifeboat tests. That wouldn't be the case if there were welders still doing structural work down below.

Some people really should get out and about more. Plus recent events in Italy have shown that lurking underneath bridges might not be a good idea.
