This isn't any old supply boat / anchor handler. (Specifications in link below.) It'll be interesting watching her track when she arrives in the field. Until then no point speculating about what she'll be doing, to my mind. Though lots of people are doing so on advfn.

I don't know what the 'rings' reference is! But don't count on the drilling starting too soon. There are some unidentified craft in the approximate Lincoln area, but one can't see their track, so can't see if they're (maybe) pre-laying the anchors for the TO Leader, or what.

Anyway, such operations will be very weather-dependent, as will rigmove itself.

For now the Leader is still on Kraken.

I'm back (groans all around, no doubt), and yes, I've been following things. Here's my take on the last few days' events.

(a) The fact that the company issued a prompt RNS Operational update convinces me that the 'first go' a couple of weeks back was simply some sort of 'trial run', possibly related to reasons I alluded to in previous posts.
(b) The fact that the RNS stated that the buoy had been returned to its 'starting point' plus that the AIS showed increased draught (indicating ballasting) is a very strong indicator that the problem occured when tension had been taken on the buoy and winching begun.
(c) As others have pointed out, this abandoned attempt will give all concerned a good 'feel' for the next try, with lessons learned, particularly (I suspect) in terms of what constitutes an optimal 'weather window'. I'm personally not looking at any meteorological websites, but I'm sure they won't rush things.
(d) I don't think Malcy would have gone out on a limb with his reassuring comments without having received further details direct from the company.
(e) No harm done.

Back to the waiting game...

If you're interested in the 'deception' side of things, another utterly unbeatable read is 'The War Magician' by David Fisher (pub Corgi, maybe now out of print).

Yes, we're going waaay OT with this thread, and I hope LSE will pardon that. But the Dambusters / Lancaster / Hurricane connection, however subsists. Likewise the whole idea of pushing forward despite countless detractors.

But eventually the truth will out...

As a matter of opinion, and if NEX appears to be the 'upcoming new thing', do you anticipate brokers / banks giving their customers a choice, or do you see an 'automatic switch' instead?

I admit this is is a very hypothetical question to which you're probably unable to give a definitive reply. But also there's a follow-up, equally vague. If a chice were allowed, which particular path would you follow? I can understand disgruntlement with AIM, because the regulations are so lax as to having allowed a bunch of shysters in, some of whom remain, but what reasons are there to think that the promotors of NEX aren't simply a bunch of shysters themselves?

Genuine question.

But I'm highly intrigued, because (reverting to Albi's original question), it still appears we're now 'dual-listed' Even if NEX seems to be a will 'o the wisp 'secondary' listing.

Casiopias in his inimitable style has given us an overview of what NEX is, for which I thank him.

But now, as a PI, I'd like to ask for an opinion from him. (He's not obliged to reply, of course.)

1. Is NEX recognised by major brokers, and do thay deal there?

2. Would there maybe (opinion only) be any advantage in small PI's moving their holdings out to the AIM snakepit over into NEX, without the risk of haven fallen in with even bigger snakes?

Having been brought up, this topic seems to me to be far more 'on-topic' than wondering about whether there will be an ROV watching latch-up on Lancaster.

By the way, I'm not everyone's idea of a 'nice person', and my English can be far from perfect these days, given that I rarely use it, verbally. I'm more used to speaking in French. To the extent that I committed an absolute howler, yesterday, on the phone to a fellow-investor (and contributor here), because I mistook his Teeside accent for a Scottish one! Fortunately, it wasn't a skype video-call, because my face was bright red from that blunder, which was thankfully forgiven.

That's just the same feeling I get so far! And definitely nothing to 'worry' about. If HUR suddendly turned up being dual-listed on another exchange like Toronto or Singapore it'd definitely send me scurrying off and spending serious time trying to find out why.

But so far as I can see so far, NEX is some sort of private-enterprise 'virtual exchange' thing. OK, to some extent, I reckon a lot of money-transactions are 'virtual'. People seem these days to be almost unprepared to be paid for something in cash.

But nevertheless, there is 'virtual' and 'virtual'. Try paying for your diesel in bitcoins. It don't work. Already my local filling-station won't accept 100 - euro notes, which is why when I cash out at the casino I insist on fifties only.
