Bozi, I may be mis-reading your last two posts, but you appear to contradict yourself. On the one hand you seem to suggest BHP aren't going to bid (I'm paraphrasing) and on the other you imply there's no future other than with BHP.

They are held independently. If they were held on behalf of BHP it would have to be declared as being a beneficial interest.

CD, the overriding priority for an advisor to any company looking to raise money is to avoid too much dilution. When they start to conduct the process they set a target price and end up in a negotiation with potential investors. Obviously, they will want to start from as high a price as possible.

Quady, you state that what Slug says is isn't free speech, it is. What you actually mean is that you don't approve of it and therefore it can't be free speech. You may then extend your argument and say that many people don't like it and it's also offensive, which it may be, but that doesn't impinge on his right to say it. There is no right not to be offended.
The way to defeat an argument is to do so via the power of counter argument, not by simply demanding people be stopped from saying something.
Anyway, that's enough of that - mind you, there's feck all else to talk about at the moment and January looks as if it's going to be a very dull month.

Q, use of any particular word is about context and application. Your use of the word has all the hallmarks of Stalinist Russia. You don't like what some has to say and you immediately demand denunciation and banishment. It's not a healthy approach to freedom of speech in a democratic society. I may not agree with what or how Slug approaches things, but he's perfectly entitled to his approach.

I can't see BHP wishing to dilute its own shareholders when it's sitting on a pile of cash burning a hole in its pockets. At current rates they'd replenish their coffers in about two months.
