Tullow is never far from another crushing disappointment.
I bought after the drop from £2 thinking it'll sort itself out and return to £2+ and the chat (and the NAV) all supported that belief.
Then it plummeted on Dec 9th and I bought more at 40p to average down as a Hail Mary, and the 4 days that followed were the only happy days I've had with this share.
Since then we've had a mix of optimism and pessimism on this board, viewed as ramping and deramping, but mostly I think not malicious, and despite Samuel hoovering up millions of shares, despite POO movements in both directions, regardless of good or bad news, those 4 days of beautiful gains eroded away, and much more.
Sure, no one could have predicted the global pandemic and the squeeze on the global economy.
No one knew the the Russians and the Saudis would act as they did.
I've followed the seasoned (and I imagine successful since they're not broke) members comments here, citing news and financials, and the price just wouldn't play ball. The phrase "this is gonna fly" pre-empted many of red days.
How many times have I read market makers, algobots and shorters being blamed?
People buy and people sell, it's really quite beautiful in its simplicity. If they trust an algorithm or a broker to make that decision for them, it's still just a buy or a sell.
Conspiracies certainly do happen, but is there one here? Does Tullow's disappointing graph come from cloak & dagger moves or poor management decisions?
Answer: it doesn't matter.
You and I can do nothing about it. I've seen a call for Tullow to be investigated many times on this board for what was seen as illegal activity, has it actually happened? Nope.
When the Trump announced record borrowing to prop up the economy, Tullow finally moved north slightly. When the financing was green lit we saw a 50% rise in a day. Shockingly it also rose the following day, unprecedented!
And where are we today? Yup, despite the major producers promising to do the one thing necessary to save the industry, cutting production, the 28p we touched last week when we actually were flying is, for whatever reason, gone. What do we KNOW is going to be next for this share price?
My safe prediction: it's going to move.
