If Tullow rises to £30 while I'm in it, life will be very comfortable, but I wouldn't spend even a fraction of it. I'm all for the simple pleasures in life, all of which are free or quite affordable anyway.

When I open my eyes, I see blue sky and I hear birdsong, colour me happy.

I started back at work yesterday, good to see my co-workers again, feels like real life is coming back.

I need this to get back up to 148p before I retire in 2026.

Time is on my side.

I'm going to go on the record as predicting 26th August 2021 it will reach 148p, well ahead of my retirement. That pays off my mortgage and I can live comfortably for the rest of my days.

26th August was the day Krakatoa erupted in 1883, in case you didn't know, plus it's my birthday.

15 months from now the economy will still be in trouble, but everyone will be in the process of getting back on their feet, and to do that we all use oil. Its as reliable as death and taxes.

Yesterday when it was over 26p you predicted "Boom" but it closed red, so Tullow shows how it can disappoint even in the face of good news.

Care to predict a number for today's close? It just for fun, remember, we all know it's in the lap of the gods...

Yesterday I said it would be 'a red day, but not by much' ....nailed it! Although I did say close at 24.5, so it wasn't spot on.

Today I'm going to stick with close at 24.5p

Other than rising on specific good news, Tullow has a habit of just sliding down. It'll be a red day, but not by much.

I suggest you go to SHARE CHAT and then HOT CHAT TOPICS for stocks that have people currently excited, and TOP RECOMMENDED gives you the members who have been doing this a while and whose opinions other members most respect and appreciate.

If you click on any member's Nick name you can see when they joined, how many posts they've contributed and which message boards they contribute to, which quite likely mirrors their investment portfolio.

If a member has been investing for years they clearly haven't gone bust or lost faith in the joy of playing the markets, so they likely make more good investments than bad ones.

No one has a crystal ball though, so other people's opinions and confidence can be useful but in the end it's your money and your decision when and where to invest it.

No "golden opportunity" is unique, they crop up with regularity, so don't succumb to the "fear of missing out" (FOMO).

Feels like we've gone slightly off track here.

I'm glad you asked. I believe crimes should be punished. Whoever commits a crime should be hunted down, caught, tried and punished.

Other than borrowing shares and selling them, which is legal, what did they do?

No need to tell me, tell the press, tell the authorities, tell those empowered to punish wrongdoers, make sure justice is done.

You're absolutely right, there are many variables to consider in predicting the SP movement.

The good news for all of us is that the result is always a consensus, an average of all opinions at the time.

We've seen time after time TLW not follow POO, because there are all these other factors, and optimism or pessimism are the eventual result of every investors thought process.

If you're long and faithful, you don't effect the SP, only those buys and sells make waves. It's a free country. My view on shorters: bring it on! All shorters do is buy or sell, just like everyone else, no more no less. For every share they sell that encourages a drop, they are committed to buy it back encouraging the EXACT SAME DEGREE of rise, so where's the harm? Shorters are taking a gamble like everyone else, but without the luxury of time. We could wait a decade after selling before buying back, shorters are LITERALLY on 'borrowed' time. It's legal because it's just the other side of the same coin. If a hundred million shares are shorted, the last million fetches a poor price compared to the first, and when they close out the first million nets a profit and the last million nets a loss, all things being equal. The brokers are the only guaranteed winner in every gamble, the house always wins. If longs see such a drop and bail, it's THEIR CHOICE to sell at the low point. If you have faith, just average down! The shorters have helped you!!

I called it as 3.5% rise today, which would be a close of 26.24p

26.14p! This is as close to winning the lottery as I'm likely to get! Woohoo!! Go me!!

I predicted today would finish 3.5% up, and I'm sticking with that prediction...

If it gets to 27.5 I'll be selling a chunk as I strongly suspect it'll fall back from there.

LTH really and truly want POO to stay low for a while to strangle the competition who aren't as well hedged, surely? If some go to the well, supply falls in the long term and we cash in!

I have 155k shares at 85p, so I need to see 148p before 26th Aug 2026. I'm looking at the long game. Fingers crossed I get 148p quicker than that, then play some other stock to get enough to buy a used Bentley (£15k) then I'll be a happy bunny.

I'm confident of a retrace after, so as welcome as every blue day is, I'd like to sell at a peak and increase my holding when I buy back.

So, anyone reading willing to give their thoughts? Just for fun, of course, no pressure, my choices are still my own, kudos if you're right and no worries if you're wrong...

Quick question: is it only possible to 'manipulate the SP' downwards?

If yes, everyone would become a shorter and make money.

If no, why don't we do that?

If it's inevitable that the shorters will drag this down, go with it! It'll only be temporary, so sell now, but back when the all powerful shorters have moved millions of pounds to achieve their evil plan, then buy back for the ride back up as the market rebalance, as it inevitably must when the FINANCIALS rather than EMOTIONS swing back into prominence.

As has been stated here ad nauseam, we have solid financials, so long is a sure thing, but if you truly believe in the power of the shorters, take those extra profits too!

Or, if deep down you accept that short term market fluctuations are in the lap of the gods, stay put.

I understand the very basic principle of shorting.

You can't stop it happening.

If I sold my shares because I believe I can buy them back cheaper later, I'm allowed to take that gamble.

That's the exact same thing as me 'borrowing' someone else's shares to 'short' them. Shorters cause NO HARM to the share price that the actual owners of the shares wouldn't also cause if they themselves felt the price was going to slide, and they had the stones to make that gamble.

There is no conspiracy, just 1.4 billion shares being gambled on the judgement of a great many individuals. It keeps things interesting, dontyou think?
