RE: what will happen to spodumene after the chip shortgage finishes in 202231 Oct 2021 08:18
Snowking--great prices, this will certainly get every lithium miner in the world to re-assess the viability of mining lithium.
So many of the adult players have already taken the covers off and increased production.
The fear amongst the world elite is/was will the miners be able to up production to meet future demand.
As Fastmarkets reported--lithium demand will be matched by supply up to 2025,thereafter the increased demand must be satisfied by new lithium coming to the market.
The academics do suggest the worst scenario being a small gap occurring between demand and supply;this being until new lithium finds its way to market.
There will be a jump in EV sales that is for sure however the future batteries will require less lithium, geopolitics will kick in,technology will come to the fore and,IMO, the biggest issue will be pressure from environmental groups.
The is an investment return from Prem, that is not in doubt.
Me--keeping feet firmly on the ground, world events could knock all predictions sideways--AND the bubble will burst.
Looking forward to next RNS.
