GH said in an interview after the results in September that Newcrest would have spent the minimum commitment $5M by the end of September and I would imagine that with 6 rigs spinning now they will be well through the second $5M on their way to the Stage 1 commitment - We might get some sort of clarification before the Newcrest AGM next Tuesday.

Interesting paragraph about halfway down from the managing director at MacMahon -

“We have several opportunities in our tender pipeline that we are pursuing from an exclusive or shortlisted position and I am optimistic about the prospects of winning additional work in Australia and achieving further growth in our profitable operations offshore,” Mr Finnegan said.

I wonder what opportunities that they are shortlisted for???

There's an announcement out this morning that the agreement has been signed for increased rates at Telfer.

So Newcrest are already losing money on each ounce produced at Telfer yet they have agreed increased rates with MacMahon - do they know something that we don't lol.

Agreed about HAD016 - remember they had a similar result with HAD010 even though it was drilled from the West back towards the East it similarly didn't enter the basement sequence.
Have a look at the latest image from the satellite here - I've had a play with the custom filters and the pads seem to stand out even better against the background.

The hole furthest South-East is roughly 100m further East than HAD016 location. It will be interesting to see if this one is angled back in at 70degrees again or if they might try a more steep angle to test that South East area.

Timid, You are right about trying to find clues and I might be totally wrong here but I'm a bit bored at work this morning so decided to overlay the drill results onto the magnetic intensity image from your earlier post.
I lined up the magnetic layout with the latest satellite image using the features that can be seen clearly in both and then put the drill results on top. Here is the resultant image.

It's very revealing when you look at it in relation to the old image you linked to -

HAD004 is near the top of the dotted lines which show the ground magnetic anomaly - this seems to be borne out when you look at where HAD004 is located on the magnetic overlay I have done - the interesting thing is looking at the old image again the ground gravity anomaly goes a lot further north and is located further west than the magnetic anomaly.

I remember GH saying a good while back that they had only scratched the surface of the gravity anomaly. Looking at the patterns of drilling now - is that why they are starting out further east / north and drilling back towards the west - targeting this ground gravity anomaly at depth???
If this system goes further north & south then the sky is the limit.
As you say it is all speculation at this point but it's fun to try figure out what's going on out there.

Ok guys n gals,
Latest satellite image overlain with the last set of drill results to try and see where the new drilling is taking place.
They seem to be concentrating their efforts around the HAD015 area with that line of 3 just south and another one just to the west.
Also there seems to be another hole just East of HAD016 which they said traversed over the mineralised zone - This one will obviously go deeper than HAD016 so if this also misses they might be finding the southern edge of the system.
Excited to see what they find from that one to the north west of HAD015.
I've also circled in red two areas that seem to have been cleared of vegetation that was present in earlier images so I would assume we will see holes in these areas soon also.

Well that's really made me laugh. I was just driving home from work and decided to listen to the Sprott weekly wrap-up podcast. I think this is the first week in the last 7 or 8 that I haven't sent an email into Sprott to ask about Greatland Gold and low and behold just after 15 mins in Craig (the host) announces that Eric doesn't have any opinions on Greatland Gold and won't be discussing it.

Mostly discussing Solgold and their projects in Papua New Guinea but there's a paragraph about halfway down

''We are not in a great exploration market, this is not a market where people are throwing money at exploration companies, it is quite hard to raise money and exploration companies that aren't generating cash-flow are generally valued in cyclical terms, we are at a low part of that cycle," he said.

Says a lot about Havieron when they were prepared to "throw" $65M at us at the low part of that cycle.

Timid - I don't feel at all sorry for Newcrest - They have got a bloody good deal IMO @ Havieron - lets hope we can negotiate a far better one on Scallywag (depending on the outcome of the drilling).

I forgot to mention earlier that we should be due a new image from the satellite tomorrow so it will be interesting to see if those prepared pads have been commenced yet.

I've been doing a bit of research this morning. I posted a link to a Newcrest report from 2009 a few weeks back when we were looking at the holes that Newcrest were collaring out to the West of Havieron.

I was looking at it again this morning and checked the hole locations against the latest Scallywag images on the release from earlier this week. Its seems that Newcrest were aware of the anomalies in the Scallywag area and were actively drilling them in 2009 before deciding to relinquish the license because it didn't fit in with their plans at that time - where did we hear that before - looks like it could be Havieron all over again - but shallower and closer to Telfer.

I wish we could stick a few holes in there before the end of this season.... Should give people something to question GH & CB about at the AGM.
