The response from Energy UK is a well informed and clearly set out analysis. It describes why bringing this change forward is ill timed and seems to illustrate that it will cause more trouble than it will create savings for the consumer. Thanks for posting the link, I doubt I would have ever seen it otherwise. I'll continue to hold NESF and I will watch how the story unfolds.

RPI is being discontinued (so will no longer be calculated by the ONS). I think CPIH is the nearest replacement, eg CPI with housing costs factored in. The switch from RPI to CPI in public sector schemes (and almost all other final salary schemes) occurred many years ago. Good to see the price climb back to 60p today.

License is the verb in the UK, licence is the noun.

It will be interesting to see the results of the consultation in the new year. These proposed changes only affect older legacy schemes. A slightly lower annual increase doesn't really stack up to a 5% drop in share price, as far as I can see. The sector still has a promising future for as long as we are decarbonising. Imagine what effect the election of a Reform government in 2029 would have? That really would mean total sector collapse.

I have previously said I wouldn't do this, but I'm using up the last few months dividends in my sipp and tempted by the high return. It still looks very uncertain where this is going, but I wonder if we could see some of the smaller solar funds joining up. Or a straightforward buy out followed by a reduced dividend.

Do you mean that you already sold some at sufficient profit to have covered your purchase price for those as well as your remaining shares?

Would the same be true if you adjusted for inflation?

I bought some in the referendum dip in 2016 @ 49p. Inflation has totalled 38% in the years after, so in todays money thats 67.6p.

Todays price equals a 27% rise above that in just over nine years, plus a few years where they paid dividends along the way. Not really making my fortune is it? Then again, Ive only a few others that have done far better but I have many others that have done far worse.

Why are you still here then? I think this board has improved immeasurably since that warning. It's the best thing they have done in the (almost) five years since I joined.

Well, you're on safe ground there. £2.70 for a bag of chips at my local chippy. So it will take many, many years before you have to stop saying that. Or possibly forever.

Thanks Hardup. They are definitely stretching this buyback out late in the year, there will still be cash left to hoover up shares on Nov 26th.

I think you'd get a lot of others joining. I have never really believed any NAV since Woodford and Newman stole their investors money.

There is so little oversight, they can pretty much make it up.

I posted the RNS ffs, there's no stopping the politics. And come the budget I expect the two to meet head on with Reeves and a bank windfall tax. Even my comments on Reform are relevant, as a large part of their alleged savings (£35 Billion) come from stopping interest on QE reserves. Although this idea has some support, the actual amount of savings gained has been widely discredited
